Here I will show you some new projects in the future.

First I go to create a photon torpedo effect, this is easy to realise with the Finalflare plugin.

Some additional lights and a light animated torpedo bay gives a good realistic output.

    That torpedo looks sweet. :)

I'm glad you opened a WIP thread, so that we can have a peek at what you're working on. Your animations are awesome, it will be fun to watch them progress. :)

No I like to create something new, and use some special effects, like torpedo blast and explosions.

    Finally!

    Someone using BOTH launcher-tubes.
So often I've ssen animations were two shots were fired from the same tube/ramp, way too fast to be possible.
Finally someone had the brains to make use of both ramps.

Well, I've used both tubes in previous animations. Unfortunately the camera has always been too far from the launcher to clearly see it...

This animation is nice, but in my opinion the torpedos don't cast quite enough light on the hull. That's just me though, I tend to go overboard on the lighting :p

A little combination, Enterprise going under warp and firing torpedos.

    Now in HD resolution.

Next step is to create the warp flight

I like it non spectacular like this

The trail effect was generated with the Kytrail plugin in MAX

That video is cool, the animation and effects are very well executed. I like the idea for the warp shot. It's similar to what has been done before but not the same. :thumb:

    Now the animated warp flight.

Flying stars using a blizzard particle system, warp trail with the kytrail plugin

wow, that's quite an amazing work you put up. :)

^ Yes, I'm going to have to agree with that statement. :)

I'm absolutely loving the warp by shot. It reminds me of an improved shot from Star Trek 6.

Talking with Chris2005 and IRML about the explosion effect.

Try to add a stock explosion with AE into the scene and....hey....this looks pretty cool  Thanks for this hint.

    Real explosion works better.

whats that poor asteroid ever done to kirk??

Very nice, with the right explosion, a scene can look drastically different, and more realistic, at least in the realm of scifi, we both know an explosion like this wouldn't happen in space, but in terms of realistic explosions, this works great. :D

OK, I'm convinced. That looks better. :D

Real men don't look at explosions, they just walk away.

That asteroid could've headed towards a habitated planet (judging by the size of the explosion it was quite big), or it was a converted spy-station look-alike...

Yes it was a little too big, checked out another explosion and made a litte sound adjustment

Way more proportional to the scene now, but I still liked the big badaboom. :)

I liked the animation. always great to see recreations, but it's always harder to make something completely original (figuring out angle of the shots etc)

But the best thing is the re-worked warp animation. It looks better than anything i've seen in all 11 movies. Got myself a sammy s23a700D monitor, currently using the 'in warp' render posted above as my wallpaper & using the 2d->3d converter with it :D

Going forward, do you see the possibility of producing more rendered stills, or sharing a collection of them some point in the future?

Yes it's Kytrail, and the warp tunnel are some superspray particle emitter

Did some rework to the Arboretum and render a beauty pass with an old style warp jump
  • RekkertRekkert4037 Buenos Aires, ArgentinaPosts: 2,302Member
Really love the classic pass and the warp effect. However in my opinion the tunnel particles should be longer and blurier (is that a word?). Anyway just a minor observation, your work is great as always.

That looks good, I like the warp jump. The arboretum looks good also. Did you model anything for it or is that all done with textures?
  • mylexmylex1015 Posts: 346Member

The front wall is modeled, the doors are texture maps, put some better trees inside, the bottom and the ceiling are also texture maps.

I hope you didn't take my observation about the explosion as a dislike. I found the big explosion quite good. I mean they really need a reason to use torpedoes, they could've also phasered the asteriod if it weren't a bigger danger... ;)

I love the warp-effect, but agree that the tunnel particles should be more blurred.
