update . .
I did some work on the Promenade section of the core and slapped a few thing together for a render . . . . Things seem a little off, first I think the promenade section roof is too high but it's hard to tell, and I seem to have lost the scale perspective, maybe that's because I don't have little details to bring that out . . anyway I am looking for some ideas today . . maybe I can fix this is short order .

not my computer . . . I have a quad core with 3 gigs rm . . . I don't even feel it . . .:D
Update . . progress continues . . .
current status . . . I need to thin the ribs on the promenade section . . .
gp
that's awesome psycho . . . this looks pretty dang good . . .
funny how I can look at your ds9 and be so familiar with it . . . I guess it is the same for you when you look at mine, it's almost like saying . . "Oh . . i remember that part" . . .
How many polys in that puppy . . ?
gp
here are the wires . . . .
image 4 the dsails are my shame . . . . I tried everything I could to not have to triple that section but i just wouldn't render correctly without it.
Anyway . . . .

Looking cracking. There's only really a few points I can see for optimisation, though it's hard to see if your edge bevelling is excessive or not, as we can't see that close

The funny thing is I have no idea what the poly count will be on the outter ring with the pilons on it . . . ha ha ha
there is so much detail out there I can't even fathom it.

Looking cracking though, you're making good progress!

How about posting a wireframe on the next update for us to look at?
sure . . of course there is one section I am embarrassed about but NP
gp
oh stop it! we'll be the judge on whether or not you need to be embarrassed by it!
jk - I'm sure it looks fine!
I am always curious to see peoples wires because I feel like I do things in such a stupid way sometimes...
exactly
it was only about 350k polys or so... can't really remember...

And tobian... I think you have one bad poly in the screen grab... no, no, no, the one on the lower left... down a bit, little more... yeah that one...
