This is an original design of mine. Some sort of orbital fighter inspired by the Tigershark from Wing Commander Prophecy and of course in orbital black and white like the Shuttle.
I'm hoping to figure out texture painting in blender to do decals or at least brush up on texture skills. Also, would like to figure out an easy way to animate RCS firing while maneuvering.
It's got hatches for radiators and air intakes for atmospheric flight, but I'll have to design some wings
Interesting!
Funnily, shortly before you posted this I had watched something with a similar shape. It's reminiscent of the spaceship in the 90's Fantastic Four cartoon, when they show their origin story.
Or, you can do my decal trick - which is to copy just the polys you want the decal to be on, into a separate mesh, then apply your decal shader (with an alpha) onto that little mesh piece.
I long for projection decal materials like Vray and Unreal to come to Blender...
I found a couple neat addons DECALMachine (which I haven't tried because of the price) and there's similar functionality in the Sanctus Library addon, which is what I used for the decals. Blender's texture paint I don't think suits my purposes in this case, but it was neat to try.
I was playing around with japetus's awesome Kronos One, and added a procedural grunge pass to the hull shaders.
Well I got the bug to build my own, and I'm planning to add some details based on Bill Krause's D7-7 IKS Vondor

Thanks!

You might want to look at this for painting
