Cool, I may revisit the Idea. I own a new copy of Illustrator. It will not save in earlier file versions. Found a program that promised to do the conversion but it was way to expensive. Thanks for the inspiration.
It will save as earlier versions, since I've done it for a few years now. Just save as an .ai file, and then under teh save options up at the top, there is a Version. Save it as an Illustrator 8 version. (Instead of Illustrator CS5, CS4, etc). If you have the latest max version, you might try as a CS5 version and see if it works.
