some better renders of what I have.. I've fixed the regestration, and added some cheap rooms. .but no time to render, so wait till monday.. didn't have as much time as I thought... so bit more work then done! Thanks!
Only thing is it looks like you've forgotten to get the shipboard lights to cast shadows, I can see the lighting on the nacelle pylons etc. lighting the areas under the pylon, where obviously if the pylon was in the way it'd be dark. Same thing with the phaser turrets not casting a shadow on the hull either. Shouldn't be hard to fix. Otherwise, it's coming along lovely.
okay.. Tangent time!! as in off on one! gonna take a week, and do.. something
Done with the Strider.. (renders and ortho tommorow..I hope.. )
Started on.. an Oberth Cargo Tug!
Dusted off my oberth.. and went to cygnus for some blueprints and found a cargo tug with a nav deflector on it .. and since the Oberth doesn't "have" one.. sounded like a good idea! so been playing with that for abit.. got some details and lights and some temp/ maybe permentant textures on the cargo pod.. running lights, rcs etc.
going to make this pod a cargo/ sleeper pod.. the back half be cargo, the front half a sleeper section for colonists.. ( to save food, air, sanity for a month long journey?..sure) with some techniions from the ship checking in on them.. t
there will be other pods.. fuel, medical etc. so building a colony fleet
and oh yeah.. Named this one the Otomari Maru ( and yes.. all of the other cargo ships will have Maru on it... )
But not all cargo ships are Japanese! Just because the Kobayashi Maru had it, doesn't mean it'd be a complete across the board thing. It's surprisingly rare, even amongst Japanese-flagged ships.
well.. I like the naming scheme.. something like the Luna class having only the moons names... so to me.. this line of ships have Maru in the name.. and being an anime fan..
continueing on! more work on the pod.. installed some air locks, and adding some windows.. not final placement..
the back consists of large cargo pods, 8 of them.. ( ... "borrowed" some hints from Xfozzboute )
Done with the Strider, and finally got the ortho's rendered ( my fault for not hitting the render button before i went home .. TWICE!) so here they are!
.. got annoyed at trying to make a tanker version... egh.. so.. Started something new! (quicky build)
started on a high speed courier, scout.. 1 deck high main saucer (?) well generous hight of 4 meters.. ship is bout 90 meters long 75 meter main hull.. not to big (though not to to small either) bout all thats left is work on the main hull, details etc. ( and before you ask.. yes i like the oberth nacceles )
saw this while i was surfing for oberth tanker pics.. sparked my interest a bit.. so quicky ..
Kenneth may have to hire you as my ship designer for my ST:Sector Guard Series. In ST:SG, the sector guard is relegated to using out dated and "Kit backed" starships pulled from the Surplus Supply Depots.
It's probably for the best that they went with the completely new nacelles for the Excelsior, but every other TMP era ship ended up getting the Connie-refit design. Constellation, Miranda, even a few of the DS9 kitbashes. I'm glad some fans use the Oberth ones, anyway.
Thanks guys and girls! I'm putting Star Trek kinda on the back burner for abit.. I gave myself a deadline of.. Today! to do whatever on star trek, then i'd start on the Last Exile Vespa..
these aren't forgoten.. was making a cargo and escort ship for a reason.. just ran out of time.. I'll get back to them soon, maybe tweak them a bit when i get worn out on the other build.. Thanks for the interest!

To be fair, that's probably because Connie refit model kits aren't hard to get hold of. Heck, I have one. Plus, the model was at a better detail level thus easier to make moulds of, I imagine.
Okay.. so.. long time no Post of mesh... hehe
so.. still working on the Thunderbolt.. working on the textures.. more complicated than I thought.. but all okay.. needed a break so started on something that should be fast to complete.. and something that I've been interested in
so I give you the Avenger Class from the Starfleet Museum!
so Taking a page of Rekkert's book and doing some museum work ( not the first time)
So.. temp textures.. got all the basic shapes all done, most set for smoothing.. few hours work
so next is to dive in to the details.. and for me to figure out how to do the TOS Bussard effect!
I should be doing a Shuttle bay as well ( already got it blocked out abit)
I must admit though, I don't like this particular design very much. (Sorry Masao!)
About the Bussards, I did some research when I had to create them for the Valley Forge, and in my opinion the best approach is to model the thing, it looks much better and is easier to handle in animations, I've included here an example on how Acidstorm modeled the collector for his Constitution.
In my case, however, to model it proved too dificult and I recurred to a texture. I attached the texture I created for my ships. It's probably not the most accurate, but maybe it can give you an idea of how to do it if you're going with textures. If you want to, I can create a mini tutorial or something.

It brings back cool memories. It was between 2002 and 2004, if my memory serves, when Jan Whelack built the original, together with the Predator class. Sadly, since that age, I never found him online again.
YouAâre doing justice to the mesh Ken. Great start.

No sweat, man. The design was originally a ship with a single fat nacelle, so having two fat nacelles makes the ship a bit overpowered or unbalanced. But I thought that Starfleet might produce this variant anyway.
Thanks guys! ( and girls... are there girls here? must be.... anyways...)
spent some time fleshing out the interior, checking on sizing.. ( short decks, maybe 2.5 meter tall.. according to plans.. which place this at 197 meters long) also worked on the shuttle bay.. with a shuttle mock up/stand in.. small bay, and it extends into the saucer to near the bridge, with the rest of the deck being cargo.. so room for 2 full sized shuttles, and 2 shuttle pods/impulse shuttles ( basically smaller than a Galileo, without the warp nacelles) and it being a tight fit with M/AM reactor being in the Neck! but it fits...
so, done some smoothing.. minimal sheild grid lines.. going to do a light texture of the saucer panel lines, instead of modeling them.. keeping the "Penciled in " theme of the original show

Just some rooms and the saucer cut out left.. textures nearly done as well
so.. Some self Illumination renders ( one of the reason I Love movie era ships is the running lights! )
more tommorow of the latest textures etc. overnight render.. then done by tommorow! Yay!
... Phasers are a hybrid alt-Trek and regular nipples... a reuse.. done them awhile back , Thanks thou!

Thanks for following and the comments on this one! look for more of her soon!
egh.. when unloading and loading.. have a number of travel pods etc. no real reason..
EDIT: had the album as private (default.... ) so you should be able to view it now.. SORRY!!!

Interesting to see some support ships getting a life.
