panel lines look fairly minimal to me...

Not by Starfleet standards. Starfleet ships usually have less lines and they aren't that complex. Plus, you have to factor in the various contours of the hull and how much of a nightmare it had to be to put them into that shape. Also, they're not actually panel lines, they're the deflector shield grid. Star Trek ships usually show the various hull panels with the shiny paint job, not cut lines.

    Amazing work Alex!!

I did not had any time at the turn of the year and in january. But finally I got the secondary hull and pylons done.

Cutting the grid lines weren't that hard but time consuming. I usually intrude the grid lines but this time I extruded the panels. I had to do this twice as the grid lines were to narrow after the first try. Luckily there are only few windows, so this saved a time.

I decided to use textured window boxes and a low poly arboretum for the final model.

Looking great, dude. Yeah, these ships seem to follow the pattern of the Enterprise-A, with not a lot of windows in the secondary hull. Textured window boxes are the way to go for sure. :)

That's some mighty fine modelling there.

Interesting that the fan blade assembly is identical to the 1701. Looking good. There doesn't seem to be much detail on the nacelle in the movie. Looks finished to me. Heh.

Yes it is with some scaling modifications. As what I can see on the studio model they are identical, too. Due to the short time window they had to build the whole thing, I think.

A lot of greebles are still to do, and the grid lines of course :p

    It looks great. :)

I'm sure there are plenty of fine details in the movie model that just aren't visible. After all, it gets about 30 seconds of screen time. ;)

You did an awesome job on the model especially when you consider that there isn't a lot of reference material out there yet. Incredible job and I can't wait to see it textured. :thumb:

    Very nice work.
Too bad the design of the ship is less than good.

I don't see it that way. This ship is sexy and way better than the JJprise.

^I'll be honest and say I struggle with the differences between the two, probably not helped by the fact I really don't think the design is as graceful or practical as the "original" Enterprise (TMP is mainly what I think of, which would be my personal favourite among the various iterations).

That said, it doesn't in any way detract from the spectacular job Nightfever is doing with this model- absolutely stunning work all round, and definitely helping me to see the design in a new light. :)
