Finally back to work on this endless project....

Working on the bottom hull plating now. Much easier this time as I just copied the plating from the top and just made adjustments too it.

I dont really have any good shots of the bottom of the ship, so it looks like a lot of it will be guess work.

    More to come soon.

Thanks guys, but I just realized that the ship is not long enough. I originally used some HD shots from the show that were slightly angled, and now I have a top and bottom view of the ship and its coming up a little short so I guess ive got to fix it..... which sucks, cause ive already got all the top parts laid out.

Guess we'll see how this goes.....

Somewhat of an update.... MAXON has just released their new version of Cinema 4D, R13. It has a new physical rendering engine which is suppose to be a big improvement, along with a lot of other new features. As soon as I get it installed (probably within the next week), ill be getting back to the Destiny. :D

Back to work on the belly. :D 3.4 million polys and counting.

The underneath was never really viewed much, so this will be mostly guessing, and my own imagination based on the screen caps I have.

First two images in this animation ive already posted, however the last half of this vid has the newest animation.

I recently installed the newest release of Cinema 4D, which is R13, and it has a new physical camera/renderer with physical motion blur and DOF.

The fly over animation in this vid uses the physical renderer, and it took a total of 4 hours to render using low settings. Im a bit discouraged with it, as I thought it was going to be faster. The idea was to test the motion blur as the camera flies over the ship. The blur looks good, but the render times arent that great.

    More to come soon.

Its been a very long time since I have worked on this project. Looks like almost a full year. Work has slowed down, and I wasnt sure what to work on, and I remembered the Destiny and how I never finished it. So now im back on this hoping to complete it. Ive been working on lighting, window lights, controls for lights and ive been brainstorming some ideas for the FTL effect.

Some of the textures in these images are temporary. It looks like I may have to unwrap some of the objects and create a uv map in BodyPaint to get better control over the textures.

Maybe its just me, but I kinda like the way to the DoF makes it look like a small toy.

Polygon count is 3.5 million.... more to come later.

Nice! That last render (27) looks fantastic - great light and DOF effect.

I ALSO like the DoF in those pics. Actually makes it look more real (like you photographed a detailed toy)

I've got to try that. You've really made it look real, like a lit model. Other images look big. :thumb::thumb:

I agree, lovely lighting and DoF in those shots, you don't see too many Destiny models so I look forward to seeing more on this. Cracking work.
