I figure this to be a pre- Humanx Amalgamation posigravity ship. Maybe Thranx, maybe not. I want a ship that looks a little 'old fashioned' but not clunky.
I added some bits and pieces. The upper decks separate to make a life raft. There's an inflatable air foil that allows for a one-time re-entry and some extended atmospheric flight.

I thought it looked like a swan. That's why it's named eala. I think 'cygnus' is a bit overused so I went with the Irish word. At least Google translate says eala means swan. It could mean 'bayonet soup' for all I know.
This one became a pain in the backside. AutoCAD kept telling me "Yeah, well, I don't know how to figure that curve out... so I'm going to just sit here and not really do anything for a while..." Then some error showed up that keeps transparent areas from printing as transparent.
Nice framework. I don't know why, but I always find doing that stuff really tedious.
It hasn't been too bad yet. I just (mostly) traced the existing shape with a 3D line, and then extruded a circle along the path of the line, mirrored and trimmed as necessary and then made the existing shape transparent.

Funny that you should put it that way... I was thinking the drive unit looks like an antique refrigerator coil.
I'm thinking of doing another Humanx Commonwealth ship next.
I've started on the drive unit.

Nickname: Caracantelene
Caracantelene, as I remember, was just a bunch of syllables strung together.
Most names are from the shape of the ship. One ship looked like a beach ball, so with the help of Google Translator it became "Plaj Topu".
Some are words I've liked forever - like "Independency". Sometimes I give them a lot of thought, sometimes not.
I'm glad someone noticed.
