Really love those new renders. Angelos Karderinis is a great artist and his image of the Yeager does fit in perfectly. Its colours complement the scene very well. Actually its style reminds me of those paintings they used for the TNG Sets. And while I really appreciate the atmospheric dark mood you gave the scene, my first thought was how long would the Bonsai survive in the dark corner it is standing in.

@wibble: Angelos and I went back and forth several times to try and match that "painting" look and evoke those TNG set paintings. As for the bonsai, it can be a modified variety, or a hologram :p

Finally started updating the Enterprise-D bridges to match the materials and lighting of my latest work. These are NOT the brand new models I did for The Roddenberry Archive using the actual set blueprints, just my 6 year old models, so there's a lot I know is wrong with them. But at least now they have better lighting, more realistic materials, and are rendered using the latest Blender 4.0 stuff, like AgX and the updated Principled shaders. I hope to do at least a few more of these before the end of the year.

Did the same treatment to my old Farpoint, Parallels v1, and Parallels v2 bridges (follow the links for all the images), with tweaked lighting to each one to match those specific episodes, so Farpoint has a neutral light while the Parallels one has a slight blue tint. Again, these are older models, those Farpoint chairs in particular look terrible, I know. Can't wait to replace them with the sculpted ones I did for the Archive in the future :joy:

Hope you all had a nice start to 2024, mine wasn't great but what can you do... Anyway, today I had the idea for a small sickbay for the USS Lalo and decided to go ahead and do it. This is only after a few hours of work, given I'm reusing stuff from other sickbays, just recoloring and detailing differently.

The idea's in place already, essentially the ship's small and only intended to travel within Federation space, so no need for a large sickbay or even a surgical bed. In case of any real emergency, the ship can either dispatch a shuttle or travel itself to a nearby starbase or planet.

I intend to rework the area above the little working desk to make it somewhat more interesting, though I have no idea what I'll put there yet. Same with the space behind the beds. In an attempt to make said beds more distinct, I removed the headrest display, as the bio-signs are instead shown on the screen on the opposite wall.

I went back and forth with that screen, thinking it's too big or not. Given the size of the room I thought it would have a smaller screen than the Enterprise-D, but then I was left with way too much empty space on that wall. Instead I chose to divide the screen up with the late-TNG layout and silk-screened elements, so it's not just one screen, rather 3 smaller screens.

Let me know what you think of it so far!

Neat little sickbay. It makes sense for a small ship that operates close to Federation support.

Also, I hope your year starts getting better.

Is it an optical illusion, or does the TNG computer on the desk look a tad small?

Glad you're all liking how this little set is shaping up!

@BolianAdmiral: Just in case I double-checked, but no it's just an optical illusion due to the otherwise empty desk. I intend to add at least a couple props to it once everything else's in place.

I couldn't leave that screen alone, lol, I ended up making it smaller and leaving just one of the displays on it, I think it now works better for the small room. To balance it out a bit I added back the little keypads at each side of it, just as on the Enterprise-D sickbay.

Given the removal of the bio-sign displays on said screen, the monitors are back at the head of the beds. I also did a simple pattern with black tape behind the beds, which I think fits as they usually did this sort of thing on TNG. Finally for this update, I added an X-ray light box on top of the desk area, similar but smaller to the one on TNG's sickbay.

I've added some props all over and some final details on the walls. At one point I added paneling all over in the same style as on the bridge's side walls, but I ended up removing it. Sickbay was rather sparingly detailed on TNG and I want to keep a similar feel, rather than overdoing it. I think I'm about ready to call this one done.

I love the panel from above the Zodiac doors here… and I really love the black line paneling on the walls behind the biobeds.

@BolianAdmiral: Hehe, yeah I used that little piece on the Lalo bridge and now here, I intend to keep using it for this ship.

@srspicer: It better be, I based it on CAD files the manufacturer made available on their website! ;)

The only change I did since yesterday was the make the bottom edge of the screen flat, to match the sickbay screen on TNG; and to raise the panels where the keypads on each side of said screen are a little bit, again to mirror those panels in TNG.

    @Rory1707: Thanks mate!

    Let's keep the sickbays rolling...

A long time ago I started converting the Enterprise-B-style biobeds I had into the Voyager-style ones, as IRL the latter were a modified version of the former. I never really finished the conversion, nor did I have any immediate plans to use them for anything, I just knew I would sooner or later. Today I finally started to do something with them: the USS Cerberus sickbay.

Very early stages so far as you can see, and as with the Lalo sickbay I'm reusing a ton of stuff from previous sets. I originally considered a more separated surgical area like that on Prometheus' sickbay, but I just couldn't figure out an elegant way to connect the it to the rest of the set and still feel like it belonged.

Love the set so far. Id keep the VOY/1701-E yellow panel lighting, just because hospitals always keep everything annoyingly cold, and blue light evokes a cool feel, lol.
  • RekkertRekkert4041 Buenos Aires, ArgentinaPosts: 2,303Member
@BolianAdmiral: Yeah, I'll do some tests with different colors when I start working on the LCARS. I definitely want the room to have warm touches, like the doors and beds.

Some more work all over; the biobeds are further along, as are the walls and ceiling. Currently it's quite dark as I haven't set up spotlights or most of the emissive light sources, so light levels will increase.

I’m loving this design my friend. We really didn’t see much of the Enterprise-E sick bay in the movies, but I imagine this is how it could have looked.

    Which one lol?

Voyager's one was used for First Contact - and Nemesis used something different

The Nemesis sickbay was not ideal, but at least it was unique and larger than Voyager's, which fitted the E better IMO.

Added proper lights on top of the beds and entrance, plus the carpet pattern for the main room, among other bits.

An update that's making me pause is that I've added work stations at each side of the door, and modeled the little boat seats used in the Enterprise-E engineering, as I thought they'd be good fit. I think this layout however might be too similar to Voyager's sickbay, so I might change one of the stations to something different. Perhaps a storage space like this on the left on Voy's junior officer's quarters?
    tadeo-d-oria-c0-03.jpg?1705394428

Other than that, I'm also finding it difficult to address the quite large empty space at the center of the room (first image). One alternative is to add a freestanding console like that from Voyager (second image), though I really dislike that design. Another one might be to add a small table coming out of the wall, to mirror the Prometheus sickbay (third image). Or something else entirely I haven't considered yet, thoughts?
