I was being cheeky in a way. If you look for the images that have the little space man in it. That should show scale. I havent decided its full role yet. this build was originaly to replace my linerunner, but as usual and often as everything its going elsewhere than I had originaly planned.
Anycase the pod is temp I just threw it together in like 3min >_> to show that it would look like with something down there. The shapes will definetly need to be redefined. Im not at all haappy with the nacel strut arangement and have tired a variaty of diffrent layouts. All contain the flat bottom for attaching "stuff" Attachment not found.Attachment not found. Now I havent decided on either of these yet all the old bits are there still.
Oh yeah, the pod is removeable based on mission, the idea is the ship would equip based on the current mission so either cargo, weapons, dock, sensors, larger crew quarters, etc can be attached as needed. Its just a passing idea so in the end it may or may not get used.
These are very cool MK, nicely designed as always.
If it helps you to decide on the nacelle configuration, then think of it this way...
- if you go with the detachable pods, then the nacelles downwards make sense, as a way of extending the warp field around the extra bulk of the pods.
- if you decide against the detachable pods, then you have to decide if you want the ship to be capable of landing on a planet, in which case the upward nacelles may make more sense.
Just my two-cents worth. Looking forward to how this turns out!
The old off the saucer struts were not working out, design wise as well as mechanicaly. No matter how I worked it I would end up with the warp systems right under the bridge as well as interfering with the cargo bays. So I think its down to the latter 2 images.
As for up or down layouts as shown in the last post Im leaning to up since it closer resembles the original intent as well down produces clearence issues of the bussards. The warp field I wouldnt worry too much about, given the nacel girth I have used. Bumping the nacels further back would cover larger pods better. But I am not sure if I will utilise the pod idea. None of my larger trek designs will ever see atmosphere. Shuttles run abouts etc can but these larger multiple deck deals wont >_>
Anyhoo working on the struts right now, even though Im suppose to be doing other "projects" like painting and cleaning the house Eh its 11am so I got the rest of the day I suppose heh,
Was never a fan of voyagers nacels or struts arrangement, seemed to gimiky. But I have an idea brought on by comments about the reversed struts. give me a few to model up the idea. It could mean changes to the secondary hull but we'll see. Attachment not found.
where she sits last I had max open. the upturned nacel images earlier were old and had the nacels further out (reason I disliked the downturned idea at the time since I had to clear the saucer with the bussards.
heres where I got to earlier, I forgot to post the images.
I originaly planned to do a strut above with some connector to the secondary hull. But it just didnt look nice so i ended up with this. Attachment not found.Attachment not found.
added some shape to the struts, got to busy watching anime tonight if tomorrow is cold again I will more than likely work on it then, unless C&C3 distracts me, but 2 days seems to have worn that games welcome out. Attachment not found.

I still havent decided on the inpulse so theres two areas with the impulse material on it right now.
Interesting. Is the main nav deflector tucked inside the black section in the saucer's lip a-la the Oberth-Class underslung sensor unit? Its developing into a TNG-Era Akyazi-Class from what I can see. What class of shuttlepod (Chaffee) or streamlined runabout will be parking in its shuttlebay, I wonder?
Some bussard cruds. Attachment not found.Attachment not found.
Looks like the nacels got bumped some since they are sitting a bit low (note struts) Currently thinking over if Ill do something more intresting than just the struts running into the nacels.
Nice bussard details! What was your aim in terms of polygons?
The pylons look nice as they are, but if you can think of something more interesting I'm sure it'll look even more awesome!
Oh, answers; shuittle prolly will be some benign thing IE whatever would fit sorta thing. I have no plans to model one for this ship.
Deflector: the plan was to stuff it in the saucer cut out (shaded are) or do something strange and put it in the pod on the underside Instead of a concave dish it would be a grill over the mechanics. Which in a way would make sence since if I do have this haul large cargo pods etc a larger deflector array might be needed. Ill deal with it when I get to that stage. Right now the saucer is still a subd object. So there wont be any cutting across the curvature of the mesh.
Linerunner was first? STO? is there something Im not aware of? lol
Original design for it is 3yrs odl or so but its changed a lot only thing that remains is the outline of the ship in a top down view and the "feel" of the design.
v2 really has a yacht feel to it the newest is like a brick to its boatish earlier rendition, hence why I have considered making this ship a diffrent class mission etc. The nacels easly date it 10 or so years prior to the originals, which were easly 10 to 12yrs post Nemisis
Oh and a silly thing I had forgotten about. 5 image limit so its another post >_> Attachment not found.
I cannot find the original files for this anymore so 1024 is the biggest I got

learn to read and maybe youd know.:flippy:
I like the second design. looks like a replace for old Oberthclass.
Looks real scientific
Who cares? its a good, solid mesh and modeling!
Very sturdy design there Mad. :thumb: Looks like it could take a hell of a beating, and still give some back
Personally it looks good both ways, although i feel the pod adds bulk, but really ruins the small, speedy look. Just my two cents

maybe just one impulse vent.. the top one by itself looks good.. the bottom one..maybe a lounge or something..or cargo area
Oh and, the Linerunner was there first, right? So if anyone 'borrowed' somone else's design it's the STO guys
@topic: nice going on the ship... Very good shape I now see...
@Hellsgate: What's that bridge for?

the ship looks quite good his way...
what is it? an alternative or another new project?
