i think i already said it... its too clean. you need to dirt it alot
composition is a bit flat. play a little with the camera angle and the depth. you have everything on the same plane. there is no foreground and no background (ok, the big building can be considered as background, but still.)
add some tilt to the camera. and look UP. low angles always add drama.
keep on it boludo

agreed, needs to be dirtied up, past that, nice, really nice.
Hi! Thanks for the comments. Now, when you say dirty it up, you mean post work? I think that at texture level is pretty banged up already.
If I keep this camera DOF or any blur wouldn't look natural, since its a wide angle lens, DOF would just look wrong. It might try a lower camera with a different lens, and I do agree that it look a bit flat.
Thanks guys!

That is looking a lot better in terms of perspective/composition. The image is so close to nailing it - A couple of things I would note:
1 - The concrete barriers in the foreground have very sharp edges that gives them away as being CG. Might be worth either breaking up the edges a little (crumbling off the corners etc) or just apply a light displacement map to them.
2 - The aircraft flying overhead have become very distorted - I'm guessing as a result of post-production work. Might be worth trying a look at that.
3 - Have you considered adding a cloudy sky to give the image a greater sense of detail overall as well as more atmosphere?
Apart from those points - I think it looks great. :thumb:
The scene and the mechas looks astonishing as always, but the DOF somehow doesn't feel right, you can see the pixels separating the diferent layers of buildings, and both the antenas at the top of the building and the airplanes have too sharp edges and too blurred bodies, instead of a more uniformed effect (then again, you know a lot more about this than I do, so I could be wrong about what you tried to achieve).
PD: Que bueno ver a otro argentino por aca!

BTW - I still think you could get fancy in post and add some more dust to the scene. A half-destroyed city like that is going to be kicking up a lot of dust, dirt and crumbled rock.

I agree in all 3 point, 2 and 3 is just because I wanted you guys to see the image, this was just a quick render with minor post work, the vfs at the back are too distorted because the DOF was done very quick and the sky is just a flat color. I'll see what I can do about the barriers.
Rekkert

Again, I agree, this was done very quick, it should be fine in the final image.

good
maybe some motion blur, a little lens deformation (fisheye) and some of that light and hot smoke coming off the engines ?
and im not that convinced about the pilots postures. the arms are way too straight.
That is a great looking pic.
have you done a model with the space rocket booster?
Not yet, but I will, with Roy's color scheme. Basically, a VF-1S (I have to remodel the head, since its different)

I did try the smoke, with no satisfying result. I search for references and most of the photos I found did,t have the smoke. I guess it has something to do with the height and weather conditions, I don't know, so I rather skip that.
I agree about the pilots, they suck honestly. But I don,t like modeling characters, I don,t think I'll put any more work into them haha.
Well...., I'm done. there will be comments, but this is as far as I'm going with this. It's been almost 3 years since I started and it's about time a put an end to it. Here's the complete series
Next project: YF-19 (this time for real) vs. YF-21. Since I never really did the 19, I'm doing both Macross Plus fighters. I'll start posting the progress soon

This scene is really shaping up.
Hi! Thanks! We are really happy
Here's an update on the scene. I added some details and modified some textures.

With this I can say I'm done with the city, so I'm pretty close to finishing this (It was about time)
There still no post work done.
Cheers

Here's a quick test for a new camera and some DOF. What you guys think?

Yes sure! I'll add that latter in post!
Thanks again guys! Will post more soon
I'm still working on the final image, but here's something I render just for fun.

now i want to see an animation with those.
