I've always loved dangerous looking police cars. There's a converted Dodge Charger with one of the local departments, and it just looks mean. This particular one was actually inspired by Barricade from the Transformers movie.
Hmmm... Police? Vipers? Anyone else hearing the "Blue Danube" docking music from Elite? Great work BJ! I'd love to see one of these beauties done up WWII style though - maybe Luftwaffe Bf109 style with the big yellow nose and dappled grey camo on the upper surfaces? And if you've done the Thunderbirds and Blue Angels, you should really do the RAF Red Arrows as well! At least it'll be easy!
That is a sweet scheme. The curvature of the color on the nose is gorgeous. Nice work!
One minor quibble is the "Beware of Blast" signage by the engine. It looks cut off because of the switch to grey on the top part of it. Perhaps the lettering on the part not on the red background could be darker, like the Marine signage on the desert F/A-18 aggressors in real life.
Perhaps just something to change the demarcation between colors. Either rising or lowering the red on the engines just so it is different than the fuselage's. CO's idea could work too.

I changed the squadron leader markings on the side engine to look like it follows the contour more. That solved the problem with the "Beware of Blast" signage as well. I looked at just making the side engine gray, but it didn't look as good to me. See my previous post for the new version.
Very nice cag bird. This is my favorite scheme so far. But I think it would be nice to add the colonial emblem on the wing, just at the beginning of the red line.
"CAG Bird"!!! THAT was the term I was looking for! Just doing a search on "cag" at airliners.net brings up a LOT more reference material! Bwahahahaha! (Thanks!)

Great. Now you owe me. In return, I want to see more! *cracks whip*
Oh-- FYI, in the US Navy all CAG birds flight number ends in "00" (like "500" or "200" or whatever).

Herbie The Love Viper!
Also did up a possible squadron leader scheme for Galactica:

not sure how I remember that episode, but I do, lol, that was a funny one too.

A Mk. VII in CAG colors might be interesting
You rock B.J. Keep 'em comin' dude. That Jolly Roger's bird looks awesome.
Edit:
adding some "research material" for you. Not a request, but perhaps it'll inspire you to come up with some original stuff.
Some of these are pretty high-res. images.

Personally, I really like the aggressor liveries and ones with tiger stripes. So we'll just have to see where this takes me next!
Yeah, the NATO Tiger Meet planes are really nice. The VMFA224 plane is technically a Bengal (kinda like a tiger).
I REALLY like the VFA-102 Diamondbacks CAG bird. Good stuff.
I'll look around for some Tiger meet photos and eastern bloc stuff (what aggressor aircraft are meant to mimic)

Aircraft illustration
knock yourself out.
If you have time BJ, how about a Mach 5 version of the Viper..?
And for that matter, a few others like Racer-X's paint scheme, and maybe even the "Car Acrobatic Team"?!?
Thanks for all of your fine efforts!
stumer
Those are some mighty fine paint jobs on your Vipers B.J! Awesome job shading.
