Wow !
According to the book, Technical Manual Enterprise D, these are connections for supply hoses.
Indeed it is!
Fleshed it out a bit more, arguably more detailed than it needs to to be but ah well.
I always do the same thing, and end up spending way too much time on small details lol. But it does make the model that much better!
Also, how are you able to map textures panels so perfectly with the grid lines? I always struggle getting fine control over textured paneling to get it aligned how I want
awesome as usual.... although I'd have to say I'd be tempted to have more light on the underside of the ship.... go for the more studio lit model look.. well that and the planet is lit from the bottom right Plus I think you've put way too much detail into her to mostly have her in shadow
this is why its best not to listen to my opinions haha if i had to choose i'd go with the first image too .... I'll keep my critiques to myself from now on haha...
Everyone's opinion is valid, that's why I post here! There is something nice about the lighting in that first one I agree, the second one is maybe a bit 'busy' lighting wise. I revisited the first one and tried a bit harder:
Ahh, it might be slightly out from the model because the deck there is kinda squished on the filming model. I'd did make mine so there's proper deck layout. I'm well past being able to modify that part anyway

[edit] switched the image out for one with a subtle green light added on top of the saucer to simulate the bounce off the planet.
Thanks
Weird angle making the back of the ship look odd I think;
New zealand doesn't exist in the star trek universe remember
