Looks a little more Rebel than Imperial in design, especially with those long X-Wing style laser cannons on the wingtips. Interesting design though, like the angular rather than rounded cockpit area.

update - getting there - removed the ball turrets and went with tripple barreled turrets - they are pretty basic though as ripped them of the star destroyer's point defence turrets which didn't need to be high poly for small detail - finessed the engines abit too and made the wings abit prettier too - fixed up the passenger area bit too

Nice, liking the feel of that and the flow of the lines of the main section of the fuselage, I also like the improved shape of the troop compartment. I'd say maybe tweak the shape of the engine cowling to make that a little more interesting, and perhaps replace those blasters mounted mid wing with some other weapon, just not quite feeling them on that hard point, perhaps a Lambda Shuttle style wing mounted swivel blaster but adjusted so you have two barrels on each hemisphere rather than one on each? Or something along those lines? Really love where this is going.

assault shuttle variant - think slave one - enough room for a bed and refreasher station and lots of guns - a, considering a fighter variant with essentially dropping out everything from the underside - looks kinda cool

    A beautiful render,well done.
Not the armed platoon gunship I was looking for,but still a great concept.

fighter version - ship is modular - can interchange between modules to make this a heavy fighter, a scout ship or an APC

jedi what was it you were looking for? bigger? heavier armed?

I was looking for something bigger.
    20-25m in length,wide cabin for 36 stormtroopers.
    Turrets and rockets.
Something similar to the colonial marines dropship, but with an imperial feel to it,tough and armoured.
Quite fast and intimidating, must deploy troops quickly.Seats in troop cabin can be removed to fit cargo if needed.
The Republic gunship was great but easily damaged, this ship must be able to absorb punishment.
Imperial strategy is to strike fear, this dropship/gunship must have that effect in a compact package.

shes actually over 30m long but i grant you 36 troopers probably a stretch

Well to be honest you've pretty much described the Sentinel there.

@ Stormcloud, really? It doesn't look that long. I guess hard to judge scale accurately without a figure in there for scale reference.

the doors are abit large but was thinking troopers with big guns jumping in and out so made them overly large - will throw a very very low poly pilot in at somepoint

    Hi Talon,
Never was a fan of the Sentinel or Lambda vessels,I think the large wings put me off.
I posted a pic earlier of a Gunship that to me looks exactly like what I described.
Pity the detail is not clear, but looks like it could accomodate a sizeable troop cabin aft of the cockpit,it sure has a wide enough fuselage for it.The rear is not shown, but could imagine a cargo ramp and a twin blaster turret covering the deploying troopers.
Looks about 20m to me.Would love to see it in 3d.
Could imagine a render with a few of them with Stormclouds TIE interceptors giving escort, hell, gives me the chills.
Tha artist ShamanX really made a beautiful design.

Well that image you posted earlier is basically just the dropship from Aliens on steroids. Problem is if you do something based on that it'll just look like the dropship from Aliens as it is a pretty distinctive and recognisable design. I suppose you could go for something with that same mission profile and build it up from there with Star Wars style trappings, but once again that pretty much brings you to the Sentinel. I suppose there could be more than one ship type used by the Empire for such missions.

What Stormcloud has come up with pretty much looks like what you're after to me, just needs to be a bit bigger eh?

    Yep,pretty much.
Still would like to see something like the Aliens on steriods thingy in 3D.
Gotta love Stormies talent for great designs though.

    Great job Stormcloud.
The last pic,is it the stretched version?
The stretched version pic was too dark to tell.
  • TALON_UKTALON_UK2 Posts: 0Member
Nice final result, like what you've done here.
  • StormcloudStormcloud2 Posts: 0Member
no thats jsut the normal one - the stretch version would really need more work to rebalance it
  • StormcloudStormcloud2 Posts: 0Member
ok not as stretched as that first one i did but just enough so can get away with a quick fix - couldn't be bothered to do more than quick clone and move adjustment

I'm not sure if that is what I had in mind, but, man! That is a great design.

    Thanks Stormcloud.

Nice in all it's iterations, and all of them look 100% better than the Clone Wars attempt at an Imperial style LAAT/i design.

    Fantastic job.

little update to the fighter/drop ship and some more work on the destroyer - paneling i dont know i went with random paneling at first but looked silly at the scale of this ship so went with something more retangular and i dont know - might have go back and add some more over the top thats a bit random - anyway made some progress
