Last one for a while, since I got 3 day drill. gave each ship a class name. The Azrael will be the last starship I do based on ships from the Original Series era. I'm going to try and head in other directions for ship designs to mix things up a little.

Nice work on these. I think the Aquila is my favorite, but I do like the Columbus when it's separated quite a bit. :)

The Columbus Class is a great looking ship and a good bridge between TOS to TMP era designs. All ships you have posted have a great look to them and I am looking forward to seeing more

They all look very cool, I'd love to see all of them from different angles.

The Columbus has nothing to do with the TMP era.

That harks back to the Kelvin more, with the NX saucer rim. The recessed bridge concept is nice.
  • oldmangregoldmangreg198 Woodland Hills, CAPosts: 1,339Member
I did say there was a little Kelvin thrown in. Some idiot on one site thought I meant the biped...
More work with paneling and stuff. Rebuilt the secondary hull and deflector so it flows better. I have to admit that I have been neglecting the secondary hull and the bottom of the saucer concerning details. Also that engineering area needs to be redone. Doesn't have the right flow.

Also found my old Federation D7 in one of my old files. Ha good times.

I have no explanation. It's probably best not to ask anyways.
    The **** you make when....
Fed D7 design and model by me (Greg Stitz).
Also if you know the original artist of the background starfield let me know.

They seem to be rotating awful fast, but I like how subtle the effect is.

They are at almost the same speed as the Enterprise.

Hit a minor setback with a corrupted file, but it's a good thing I like to save multiple files at various stages. Only had to redo a little bit of the work.

Columbus is almost done at this point. Just a few minor details. The Azaerel and Aquilia are done, although they need a proper registry on them. The Clark needs most of her work done on the sphere area.

A little humor I discovered while I was working on the Columbus.

Working on the TOS-Era refit of the Columbus.
    -Deflector 25% smaller
    -Swept back pylons
-Impulse engine where it is located on the Constituion
-Laser banks upgraded to the more powerful Phaser banks
-Fission (fusion?) torpedoes upgraded to Photon torpedoes
    -Other minor differences
Undecided if this ship would see a TMP refit. Also did a size check and the Constitution is 2.5x bigger than the Columbus.

i quite like this feature here with the upper and lower parts both branching out to hold the nacelles.
  • oldmangregoldmangreg198 Woodland Hills, CAPosts: 1,339Member
I started this originally as a design for a clunky battleship....that obviously didn't happen.

Despite its name, it has absolutely nothing to do with April Fool's.

Small work on the bridge, impulse area, and nacelles. Oh by the way, those aren't torpedo launchers above the impulse engines. Obviously.

good glow effect on the nacelles, makes them look like they are radiating heat after reaching a very high temperature. the rest of the image is too dark. nice panelling on the previous picture.

Every Starfleet captain knew that when they were out among the seas of stars, they would face perils and untold horrors that would mean the death of them and their crew. The 20th anniversery of the Battle of Wolf 359 would take on a new meaning. When the Nebula-class USS Talfard detected transwarp signatures in the vicinity of Wolf 359, they knew the Borg were about to retaliate for the destruction of their transwarp hub. What they did not know was that the Borg had prepared a special surprise for the powers of the Alpha and Beta Quandrants. When the captain of the Talfard saw the enormous Fusion Cube, he knew their final moments had arrived.

Felt a little drained so put this together. If anyone doesn't know, the Fusion Cube is 8 standard Borg cubes fused together to make a larger and more deadly vessel. It was first introduced in the Armada series and since then has been ported to games such as Legacy and Bridge Commander.

The base mesh is my outdated Borg Cube from 2 years ago. The Nebula belongs to Dave Metlesits.

I really like the double-nacelles, esp. compared to the usual tri-nacelle BB that the Federation usually sees (pseudo-canon though it may be).
