Now what would be cool is if you could use some sort of polygon/item number to randomise which lights were off or on, for different shots..? Great work!

    They are all the same.
I given the amount of hours you have put into this I expected each room to look different!
Yeah I know that would take time to make each one. Still looks cool.
when it's finished some will be different

got a lot of work done on this recently, the saucer bottom is almost finished now

posh render to test the luminous surfaces, the window boxes are working pretty nice

*EDIT* - unfortunately the forum has compressed that into a right blurry mess, but hopefully it's clear enough

Ok, we make this as a joke a lot, but I did have to double check that this was a CG thread and not another one I'm subscribed to about a physical model. Astonishing.

    She's gorgeous, sir! @_@

Wouldn't be surprised if more people didn't mistake this for a physical model. Not much coming from a 2D guy, but masterful job all around; especially on the surfaces

SWEET work on the modelling and surfacing. it does look like a physical model indeed. I can't wait to see it in movie-scale scenes! :)

Yeah, I also had to make sure it was CG also and not real. Outstanding work, IRML. She's a beauty for sure. :)

    Very nice.

Looks sharp as glass to me...

How do you make the directional lights, etc. stand out like this, at this distance...

Once he finishes all he has to do is make a version with the front of the saucer destroyed, like in Nemesis. Now that would be really interesting to see.

No, but with renders like that you'll put the rest of us on life support.

Are you sure it's not un-dead? that would explain a lot!

Looks superb, as always.. it reminds me of another not quite dead project... :D

It looks fantastic. Do you plan to model/texture each element of the ship that detailed as the area behind the bridge. That polycount must be pretty high...
  • IRMLIRML253 Posts: 1,993Member
yeah the rest of the ship goes to the same level of detail, good thing there's only 3 or 4 of those greebly bits haha, poly count is pretty bad - 1.7 million and counting

tehbian built 7 million polys of his station with an abacus, so I think I'll be alright

i have a question about your gardens. (since thats what i'll be tackling today in my TMP-E)

did you actually model those trees, or is it a texture?
  • IRMLIRML253 Posts: 1,993Member
it's a texture on a model, to make it look more 3D
  • VALKYRIE013VALKYRIE013547 Posts: 1,473Member
well some programs work better with high poly counts than others.. Max is good with high counts, Maya... egh..can get dicey above a million.. dependign on the machine... though there are ways around it through layers and :)

    Details look Excellent!
