Greebletastic, and Black Ice was the Roleplaying Game campaign this featured in, was starting to wind me up not remembering that. Was pretty good as I recall.

I am floored by this! It has inspired me to revisit a model I did for a poorly executed Seventies show called Starlost.

    Just fantastic!

And such monstrosities make me think that Star Wars is playing too loose with the sizes.... It simply doesn't feel feasible, creating ships that size.

    Well... what would be better?

A endless stream of 10m long ships each carrying some barrels of oil over the oceans?
    Or a supertanker?

A fleet of small cars delivering much needed goods into the australian outback?
    Or a roadtrain?

I echo what ChrisGFX asked... :o

I've been on the same machine for almost 6 years: dual xeon e5520s, 24gb ram - now I run a gtx970. About time for an upgrade though.

yeah got to agree its over greebled - or maybe more that it looks like greebles rather than something that might be needed on a space ship

Kit-bash-ariffic... it almost looks like a physical model.

How are you producing those flat geometric plates? 2d vectors imported and extruded? Do you make them in one large sheet then trim them to match the plane shapes they cover?
  • fractalspongefractalsponge254 Posts: 1,088Member
The plates are 2d spline patterns, extruded, then booleaned or manually arrayed onto the main hull shapes.

merry christmas indeed. nothing but net. this thing is awesome. if i had one problem it would be the overuse of those round objects on the bottom fin. what are they? just details? maybe they are just sticking out too far i guess.
  • TALON_UKTALON_UK2 Posts: 0Member
I think those are the missile launcher tubes for which that ventral fin is supposed to be the primary weapon platform.
