So I decided after reading through the "official" versions of the Assertor, Secutor and Vigil that I could do a fair bit better than that if I just went with counting turrets on your artwork and modifying the rules just a little as I went along (adding extra weapons types to cover the massive difference between 40 TT heavy turbolasers and 720 TT heavy turbolasers - not that I necessarily agree with the use of such insane units of firepower), and I started a thread on the FFG official forums to post the results. I then belatedly realized that it might have been a good idea to ask you for permission *first* since I've been posting a single picture of from your gallery together with a link to the whole gallery with each ship. I hope you don't mind too terribly, and I can switch to just the links if you want me to.
Anyway, I've been doing my own turret-counting, since not all of your ships had an official number of weapons listed (and sometimes the weapons I could count on the ship didn't match what you'd written in the thread...) but not everything can be solved just by knowing how much firepower there is, so I have to resort to asking questions. To wit:
As a ballpark estimate, how many crew, troops and starfighters do you envision each of your ships carries normally? I know troop and fighter complements are listed for some of the ships, but they're fairly spread out in the SD.net thread and their search is limited to once every five minutes, so finding them takes ages. Crew complements on the other hand I haven't seen any mention of, so I've been forced to guess for my preliminary writeups (500,000 for the Assertor, around 200,000 for the Praetor, 50,000 for the Allegiance, 20,000 for the Procurator, 1,000 for the Fulgor, 600 for the Kontos and 50 for the Indictor are the off the cuff estimates I've used, some of which are probably way off. The rest I haven't started on yet, or was satisfied with what the official information says, like the Secutor's 40,000.)
Am I in the right ballpark? And could you give me an estimate of the crews for your other original ships?

I have some numbers for all the ships. I'll need to post them on my site someday. Crew would be totally speculative. I'd say the numbers you have generally make sense though. For the frigates likely higher - I believe the old EU had Strike crews mid 1k? By that measure a Kontos should be similar, and a Fulgor in the 2-3k range.

Knew I'd forgotten to check something... The Strike has a crew in the 2200s, (1970 + 142 gunners) and a reinforced battalion of troops (six companies as opposed to four, 1020 total), and the Fulgor was supposed to be equivalent. I'll update my writeup. (I'd originally based it on the Nebulon B, which has a crew of 920 plus reinforced *company* of 200...)
Anyway, had a look at your latest ship while I was waiting for your reply, and it looks good. Massive, massive hangar capacity - if my count is correct, we're talking *fifty* wings of TIE fighters, plus whatever goes into the other hangars? Now I'm really curious as to how many hangars you'd manage to fit into the belly of the Executor if you ever made a new version.
Are you considering making any more craft from the X-Wing computer games at some point? I would love to see your take on the ATR-6 Assault Transport, the ETR-3 Escort Transport (ugly as sin though it is), or any of the freighters that were never seen again outside of the games like the Modular Conveyor, BFF-1, Container Transport or Cargo Ferry. Or the XQ-series platforms, those would be awesome to see in high detail...
The gun numbers are 16x240TTion, 64x175TT, 778x70TT - the "point defense" are 200GT MTL - actual point defense are too small to be seen.
Hangars look right, except you missed 1 narrow hangar
I was counting the turrets, not the number of barrels. Too hard to see those in the renders from the finished gallery...
Also, either I'm blind or your count is off. Here's what I can *see* on the model.
240 TT Ion Cannons: those are the large quad turrets in the brim trenches, two per side
175 TT Turbolasers: those are the smaller quad turrets in the brim trenches, four per side
So far so good.
70 TT Turbolasers: Here's where I run into problems. I count 240 turrets (presumably all twins) in the thirty 8-turret banks; another 44 solitary ventral turrets (16 around each hangar, plus 12 along the rear edge of the belly and the fantail) and 65 solitary dorsal turrets (40 in strips of four across the top; 10 per side in the superstructure; and 5 centerline in the superstructure), for a total of 349 turrets. If they're all twins, that's 698 guns.
Medium Turbolasers: I could identify 70 quad medium turbolasers pretty easily - there's 44 in the superstructure, 6 per side in the brim trenches, and 7 per side on the underside of the hangar bays. Those are just the ones I immediately recognize from knowing what shapes to look fro, there are probably more.
Point defense guns: Once upon a time, way way way back, you posted a picture of a point defense gallery in both low-poly and high poly detail, and told us "this is what they really look like, but this is what I have to put on the big models to make them manageable" or something to that effect. Those galleries are pretty recognizable as well, and I just counted those, and came up with 25 per side on the bottom, and 28 per side on top, which translates to 400 ventral and 448 dorsal point defense turrets. I can tell there are more in the brim trenches, though, and apparently I missed a few the first time because when I recounted them now I found 27 per side on the bottom and 29 per side topside, for a total of 432 ventral and 464 dorsal point defense mounts. Again, these are just the ones that were easy to identify...

Hm, it looks like I did double count the hangar bay area turrets. 698x70 TT is correct. I have no count on the MTL, and the point defense guns are conjectural - each position could be twin LTL, twin light ion cannon, quad point defense laser, or some combination of those. Plus the bumps that could be point defense guns are fairly ambiguous.
Sh*t, you work fast! I'm away for a week, and you finish a dreadnaught, and have enough time leftover for a corvette! I wish I could finish drawings that quick!
Fractal, have you ever thought about doing a vertically designed Star Wars capital ship? Something like HW's Mothership? Galactic Empire or other? If Empire, where'd you want to put the bridge tower/sensor globes? Top of hull, center of hull on a part jutting out, or semi-recessed top/mid? Off to the side?
(Freely/blatantly admits I hope I'm giving him ideas)
Also, I picked up the new version of Art of Film: SW Edition, that had an update on your work. Sadly, they didn't really do justice to your portfolio *grumbles about magazine editors* although at least they kept the quality up.

I too like seeing vertically designed vessels in SW - did you see the GFFA command ship in the Legacy comics? That was awesome IMO (shame the same couldn't be said for most of the other ships in there...).
That Imperial Fighter Academy station shown recently in the Rebels series was pretty cool, too (like a Star Destroyer standing on its bow).
Hi Fractal, thank you so much for your continued dedication in modeling new designs with such intricate details and quality we have never seen anyone else able to. The only closest I have seen is JBJHJM's rendering of the uncompleted Annihilator-class Super Star Dreadnought Ferocious.
Am really glad that you have rendered many of the canon Imperial capital ships including inventing new ones that have been widely embraced by fans worldwide.
I am not sure if someone has already made any request or if you are ever considering eventually, to render the following:
1. Executor-class Super Star Destroyer (as an improvement over your 1st render)
2. Eclipse I & II-class Star Dreadnoughts
3. Sovereign-class Star Dreadnought
4. Vengeance-class Star Dreadnought
5. Resurgent-class Battlecruiser of the First Order
6. Pellaeon & Imperious-class Star Destroyers of the Imperial Remnant
7. Or to even consider a 3D rendering of the attached 2D texturing of 2 Super Star Dreadnoughts measuring 52.5 km in length each, Tarkin I & II. I just completed texturing these 2 designs (originally conceived by Crix Dorius & Daniel Haughton/Mad Rabbit) in haste after finally being inspired by more and more of your newer designs. (Note: These 2 may be a little too much to even request for being that the Empire never actually constructed any ships of these sizes aside from the Battle Stations like the Death Stars. So just wishful thinking on my part).
8. Dedicated pages of each: Imperator I-class Star Destroyer, Harrow-class Dreadnought and Nebula-class Destroyer showing the different angles including front, back, side, top and bottom views.
9. Thank you for the Orthos Comparison Chart which was size adjusted according to pixels (E.g. Imperator-class Star Destroyers actually measuring 1600 in length which was able to tell me the length of the Consolidator-class is 1855 : 1.85 km <<do correct me if I am wrong>>).
But since that chart, you have rendered ships like the Impellor, Compellor, Velox, Victory and Legator classes.
So would be very nice to have an updated chart of:
a. All of the largest Imperial capital ships starting from the Assertor-class down to the Battlecruisers (maybe pixel size adjusted to 1/2 or 1/3 of actual lengths, e.g. Assertor-class : 7500 or 5000 pixel length in order to upload such a compilation chart)
&
b. All of the Star Destroyers down to the Frigates.
Hopefully with lighting and color adjustment that is able to show the window lights on each of the ships to give it some level of impression that the ships are in space. Yes, they may lose some level of detailing due to shadows formed by lighting angle. But in my humble opinion, will be great & may be a welcome for even some of the many fans.
Last but not least, my apologies for raising so many points at once.
Await your favorable answer to above. Thank you.

Turbolasers:
Topside 12 x 8 + 5 x 4 + 10 = 126 per side + 4 centerline turrets = 256 total
Bottom 4 x 8 + 14 x 1 turrets = 46 per side = 92 total
Ball turrets: 8 x small ball turret per side; 2 x large ball turrets per side
Point defense weapons
Topside 28 x 8 = 224 per side = 448 total
Bottom 25 x 8 = 200 per side = 400 total
Hangars
I count per side:
25 x Wing-sized hangars
24 small hangars
3 large square hangars
3 large wide hangars
1 triple-wide fighter hangar
4 narrow hangars
That is a lot of fighters...

Well they aren't giant given that the ship isn't very big, but they are ion cannon
Could you make us one of these? Maybe an updated, larger version for the New Order.
You know that's his model in the thumbnail?
http://fractalsponge.net/?p=867
Mind blown.
But still, a new order version would be twice as big, and thus 4 times as cool?
Have had zero time for 3D lately, but here's some recent stuff:
