Nice work Chris ! :thumb: .... I'm guessing the polycount includes R2, ... Common culprits of raising the total polys on a model are Hoses & Wires, or cylinders with too many sides, that would look exactly the same with much less .. You could get away with bump maps for the ribbed hoses, and wires can still look the same with quite a low amount of polys, even more so when textured. ...

thanks for your comment. The polycount is without R2. I think 1.5 Mio. polys are not too much for a high detailed Model like this. Sure it could be less but it make too much fun to model all that stuff
Superb job Chris, so beautifully well detailed, loving the cockpit.
I gotta find the time to get around to building one these classic designs. Didn't really get a chance to do any on First Strike as all the A-lister ships were already done, though I did get to do the Sentinel which is the closest I got.
Anyhow, back on topic, I can't wait to see this bad boy textured.
Great job on the shuttle so far Chris :thumb: .... Are you going to do the Landing Gear ? and render a couple with it sitting on the deck ? ... or not needed for the shots planned for 'Awakening of the Sith' ? ...

Having been fortunate to be taken into the 'Toy Room' (the medium sized room where they kept the STAR WARS models at ILM way back in the days of STAR TREK 2: The Wrath of Whatshisname in the very early 80's ...
... I gotta tell you, amigo -- you indeed have got the FALCON and the others down cold. Whatever it is you are doing in this ever higher and higher world of CGI creations -- DO keep at it. You indeed have the right stuff and your contributions in these and others are truly outstanding.
If you have ever considered doing some 'How To' videos -- please do. Many CGI virgins most certainly could learn from a master artist like yourself.
I've started to make some colours for my X-Wing. The colours are not for a special X-Wing like Red 3 or Red 5, this is for a FanFilm project ... Decendants Of The Order 66.

But yes, as you say it still lacks the details. The port side is starting to look much better because of them :thumb:
Thank you all for the nice words. The Shuttle can be seen in a scene here:
