hey aylaa.
nope, its not that great, but for what i want to do, its more than enough. only close ups of it will be in a launch tube with lots of motion blur.
only thing it miss is a cool battlestar name on the side.
now i have technicians.
i think orange ones repair and prep the ships, blue are for specialties in some things, and yellow are in charge of the traffic.
its the same model as the pilot, with new textures.
there's still some skinning problems also.
not much work this summer. im learning fumefx.
i'm also modeling the gun for the mk7 (that is still unarmed), and a paintball training gunpod.
i'll see what i can do for the segmentation
anyone else has issues merging a pilot into a scene ?
max rip my model apart when i merge it. i think the problem lies somewhere in the skin modifier, but i dont understand why.
today i sticked a gun turret on the 2 seater viper, so the copilot doesnt get bored.
i have construction workers in my home, to repair the earthquake damages. so i'm home too this week. i miss my office's 8core. this is a 4years old laptop
there is a crapy camera just under the gun for "precise" aiming..
the copilot controls it with his joystick.
movements are limited. its not a 360A° turret. theres about 100A° of freedom in both horizontal and vertical.
so here's a snipepack. meant to hide somewhere in space, and then shoot from a distance huge bullets.
same way it works with the others. you just strap it on a regular viper and its good to go.
the right pod is the amunition pod, and maybe some lead in it to balance the weight of the left huge gun.
left pod is an optical telescope with a crosshair on it. (remember itAâs lowtech)
the thing straped under the gun is meant to be som kind of laser sight, but i dont know if i like it.
it's meant to be specific for the 2 seater. the gunner takes the controls of the rifle while the pilot drive his plane, or if he hides somewhere, he can watch youtube. but i dont have my 2seater right here right now. its on a dvd somewhere.
Maybe better to have some thrust pack on the right side to counter the force generated by the weapon. Like a spurt from an RCS quad on the ammo pack.
But it looks VERY cool.
if you read his post he explained how he is goign to balance the waight also the recoil in space prob wouldnt effect it much other then pushing the whole viper backwards thus what bar suggested witht eh thrusters

long time no updates.
i want to destroy mark7 vipers. i see a distance shot with dozens of vipers beeing shot at
regular army, so no fastpacks or whatever.
so here's my mk7 so far.
7135 tri, and 2k maps. diffuse spec and normal.

heres more pics with some decent materials.
heres a few more with a pilot
I was half hoping to see Matt Santos' lettering on the side of that Viper!(From The West Wing):
LTCOL Matt Santos
"Badger"

an attempt to balance the huge manoeuvrability handicap. but i think the elint is simply hopeless.
i dont know...
(It's the feed system designed for rah 66 commanche)
Another thing, in the Apache attack helicopter the chain gun is slaved to a motion controller the gunners helmet. Maybe an idea
long time, no new viper toys.
