Yeah, lighting can be really tricky sometimes. That's a really nice design, it reminds me of art deco, which gives it a nice retro vibe that I really like. I also really like the colors.

Yeah, I'm planning on art deco-ing the hell out of this one.

I added the fore and aft hangars, and I can't figure where the lights are coming from. There's no light sources or emissive materials in them, but they're bright as hell anyway.

Added a crest-type feature, another bank of windows and an atrium.

That atrium interior is really nice and it helps sell the scale of the ship.
  • rojrenrojren1733 Louisville, Kentucky USAPosts: 1,822Member
Thanks. I think an art-deco ship needs a party room. :) Several of my ships have large banks of windows or skylights over ceremony halls or dining rooms.

Added a big decoration on the back.

Started on some sublight engines. They're going to change some.

Any opinions on the length of the hull? Longer or shorter?

I definitely like the longer hull better. It's stretched like a limousine.

Okay, longer it is. I changed the sublight engines.

Nice, they look beefier and more substantial. Sure, size doesn't necessarily matter when it comes to engines in space, but it doesn't hurt either. ;)

I love the sunburst deco…Dr. Phibes ship.

Dr. Phibes - like the Vincent Price 1970's movies?
I don't remember much. I think it's been since the 70's that I've seen them.

I was afraid the star burst would look too Soviet, but I like how it turned out.

Thank you srspicer and evil_genius_180. I appreciate the comments. This one's done for now. I think I sprained the art-deco lobe of my brain.

This is another old one that I'm reworking. It's a super-advanced 'First Ones' ship called Dust Bunny.

My first impression was the orrery from The Dark Crystal.

I decided to park the Christmas ornament until inspiration strikes.
In the meantime I've started on this. I need to come up with a name for it.

Added some windows, and changed the thumbnail for this thread to a ship I like better.

I also like it a lot. Those windows give it a great sense of scale.

Maybe a DY-500 type conning tower up top?
    scifieric
  • rojrenrojren1733 Louisville, Kentucky USAPosts: 1,822Member
    Thanks, all.

Yeah, it's too flat on top. I've been thinking about a conning tower/island or maybe an antenna farm or two...

Thank you. I really appreciate that. I'm glad you all like it.

I added some more windows, hangar doors, and tried some details across the top that I didn't like and didn't keep.
