I like how you got the look of an 80s era film. Glass sheet background paintings, the black masking for the Lantree and her shuttlecraft, and all that.
I think that was the most complicated shot and I thought long about recreating this scene. My skills in 3D modeling are rather limited. But after a few tries, I'm quite happy with the result.
Oh I can't wait to see this. Been happy to see your recreations of the OG movies, but to me it's much more fun to see NEW sequences with the classic ships.
The Space Opera video had its 10th anniversary yesterday. On this occasion I decided to re-render the video in an anniversary edition. Here are two shots to start with.
Working on severeal scenes. It's unbelievable how render times have decreased. The approach scene to the spacedock took 20 hours in 2012. Today the sequence was finished in 5 hours.
Ah! I've come across your stuff on youtube, good work! That warp jump has that nice TMP vibe going for it. I wonder if a little blur and 35mm film grain would give it a bit more of that movie era feel?
Edit: Sorry, I didn't realize I was looking at Page 1! The Khitomer flypast looks pretty seemless too!
