do two, one with them open and one with them closed.

Model it so you have the missile doors and the extrusion beneath with the missiles. Then, you can set up a simple rig which will enable you to open and close the missile doors as needed. You wouldn't even need bones - simple dummy helpers would do just fine.

    how do you do that?

Well, in max, all you'd need is a skin modifier and 3 helpers.. one for the entire raider and two for each of the doors. It's rather simple.

Ar Ice-Dragon and myself are using Blender.
  • Ice-DragonIce-Dragon0 Posts: 0Member
Thanks for the input guy's, What I think I'll do is do both and depending on which one looks the best I'll use that one.

As for making the doors open and close, I'm hoping these models will be imported in to The X3 game at some point, so it depends on what the limitations are?

From what I've seen the main Xtended the team shouldn't have any problems animating the model.

How many polys do the raider and viper have? found this regarding polys in x3
egosoft.com :: View topic - poly limit on ships!
so don't be afraid to 'dress' the ships. 200,000k models are even used in xtm 0.7.

The bottem of the wing are about 40% done and I'm hoping to have them finished with the missile bays and Nukes in them in the next couple of days.

Nice, I wonder if the original celestra was a reuse of the main bad guy ship from battle beyond the stars?
  • CanisDCanisD0 Posts: 0Member
It would have to be the other way around since the movie was a couple of years after the series.

Thanks biotech but I think yours looks better:lol: as for finish ten models, I only count nine Modelled and two are still on going. And lets not forget that all my models are not textured. ( yes I've read all the texture tutorials I could find but to no avail ( just don't under stand it. )
