Just a question....but still the Empire ships will be considered the ultimate designs of the Star Wars film universe.

I'll take the Falcon over those Imperial slugs thanks.

At least those same imperial slugs are reliable enough to always work not to mention in greater numbers. The Falcon is and will always be the cool ship yet she always had power and maintence issues that only a determined pilot or droid can maintain. Plus there is only one Falcon. :D

Wasn't the GAT-12 Skipray Blastboat sold used by both Imperial and private corporations? She never did look like the type of vessel used by civillians forces.

The skipray blastboat was a 'cheap' civilian fighter, used as escorts and such for merchants, large freighters or cruisers (and smugglers, like kardde). Also used by planetary defense forces of independent systems. the Z95 Headhunter frequently filled the same role

Doesn't sound very cheap to me. Proton torpedo and concussion missile launcher, 3x light capital ion cannon, turreted twin heavy laser, hyperdrive and shields, all on a platform with the same linear acceleration as an X-Wing. Seems like a high end heavy fighter/light attack boat to me, which is what I'm making this one into.

As for civilian sales, keep in mind sufficiently wealthy civilians in SW can buy ships with nearly identical performance to military vehicles (Firespray, Skyhopper, etc.) - armaments and electronics might be severely gimped, of course, in the civilian versions. One might argue that large "civilian" interstellar corporations also operate civilian/paramilitary security forces that can easily outgun the vast majority of planetary, or even interstellar, governments (Any of the separatist conglomerates, KDY, etc.).

you're right. the hull can be made pretty cheaply if mass produced, but i'm calling it cheap compared to the requirements of maintaining a similar number of x-wings, used for active patrol and regular missions, and used almost exclusively by the rebels (lets call it pre-coruscant?). Granted that there are cheaper options than a blastboat for someone pinching credits, but for anyone who can afford any kind of security force, these would be a decent opiton

No, a fully military version of the skipray should be quite a good deal more expensive than an X-W, given the capabilities and components. Consider, despite the skipray having a much a larger chassis (thus requiring more power):

Both have shields (skipray's are heavier)
Both have identical acceleration (i.e. skipray needs a more powerful engine)
    Both have hyperdrives
Skipray has more and better weapon systems
Skipray requires several crew, not just a pilot and astromech.

Considering this is an Universe were an SSD cost, One Billion...I'd say this still pretty cheap.

Especially when that one billion credit SSD has a defective shield generator and bridge with A-wings crashed into them causing it to plummet into a giant space station.

I thought the comparison was with an XW, whatever.

That's what you get for contracting out to the lowest bidder.

OTOH your plans to become the supreme ruler of the universe aren't exactly that big a secret. ;)

    Nice progress as usual.

I interpret the pods as having an ion cannon the front, and a maneuvering thruster assembly in the back:
