Yeah, this is my WIP...though I might have taken down a lot of images since then, but I know people had posted reference there. I'd be happy to give you advice or share some wireframes if needed...
Oh yes, I remember that. Thanks for the link, I will have an inspirational go-through concerning some details.
And thanks for offering wireframes, but the big parts of the ship are done and I'm quite satisfied how they turned out.
Some progress: I finsihed the rear cannons and started with the cargo bay, which is pretty complicated.
Though there are good references from the Lacota model it is not easy to get a real feel how it is built up. On the other hand I have the AMT kit where the cargo bay looks totally different, but I think this part was simply taken over from the Excelsior kit. So I am bit unsure if I am on the right track.

Looks like the right track to me. Go with the Lakota photos.
I'm always seeing that Ent-B model being re-purposed as the Lakota, where is it from? Don't remember the name or recall the Ent-B style Excelsior model appearing in any movie or TV episode after Generations.
Hmm, will have to check it out. DS9 was by far my favourite TNG Star Trek series, so I'm surprised I don't remember the episode, still it has been some years since I've seen it. Not seen any since it originally aired. Where's that Remastered Blu Ray of the entire series at? I'm waiting.

Yea, 'Paradise Lost' under the command of Captain Benteen.
From my understanding, there hasn't been a green light for either DS9 or Voyager, however, if a green light was given, it'd likely be DS9.

Did I seriously remember the name of an episode correctly, based purely on the presence of a particular ship? I need help. I would very happily buy DS9 on Blu Ray if they ever do it... I will eventually get the TNG ones as well. Voyager...? That seems more likely to me than DS9, frankly, but I don't think I would bother with it myself.
There was a time when I probably would have remembered the episode name. But, that time has passed. Hell, I probably only remember the ship was the Lakota because I have pictures of it with those markings in a book and on my computer.
I finished the deflector area and dish and started placing the window cuts. They look too big at a first glance, but I am going to intrude the edges after the boolean cut.
Other than that I also finished the cargo (just some more greebles) and the rest of the fan tail.
How do you get the guides for cutting the windows perfectly parallel to that section of the hull so the windows don't look distorted when cut in?
I select an egde from the original mesh and generate a spline from that. You can also take a regular spline and project it onto the surface. Then I align all windows at a tangent to that spline. The vertical angle must be set manually though. Maybe there is a way to align them to the normal of the underlaying poly, I haven't found it yet.

The AMT kits don't get that part right. What you have definitely looks more accurate.

Great mesh ! :thumb:
Next update: all windows cut and paint job on the engineering hull started.
