    Gave NanoGator's technique a try:

    I got the starting keyframing down, but the ending is what get's me, because it fades away the trail, instead of speeding away like in TMP.

    I embedded the video on my post...

    lol, I've also done it with the Echo effect in AE, if the FPS are high enough, and the echo time is just right, it looks just like this, so I'm going to try rendering a lights pass of the TMP Enterprise working with it, to see if it's close enough, then a simple blur of some kind will blend them together just enough.

    Can't wait to see what you do with this. To my mind this is the "real" way to do warp streaks.

    :) It's not that it doesn't work, I just don't think it works AS WELL.

    Even with Roland's there is SOMETHING missing. I can't say what it is, sadly.

    I think the light trail effects work very well, but the rest isn't quite as good, which may be what's telling you there's something wrong

    Roland used the echo effect in AE, and some blur effects, but the video going in for the lights pass, was slightly pre-blurred in Max.

    The ship/warp streak from the 2nd video is pretty cool

    But the stars and wap tunnel from the 1st vid are better, just need to combine the two?

    Just had a look again at the original and Roland's, only thing that is different TO ME, is that Roland's animation has more light on the ship, and that you see it ALL the time, untill the streak. In the original, the ship is darkly lit, so it "disappears" at the last frames, and only to be seen at the very last end when the streak appears. TO ME that is :)
