It's always kind of refreshing if someone speaks well about vulcans. That doesn't happen very often in Star Trek, in my perception.

I do like the Vulcans. Their portrayals over the years has been uneven at best.

Actually, I think there are examples of both Metric and Imperial used in TOS.
There were. However, it's been long established since then that metric is used in the future universe of Star Trek.
