If only... but no.
Here's a comparison: The saucer's upper half, below the command bridge contains 200 windows... So, when I wrote I finished the 600th window I meant 600 windows by hand before mirroring.:argh:
When I went to bed yesterday I dreamed about windows all night...
The design of the vessel is appealing, however, the layout of the windows themselves seems... off-putting.
Its as if there's too many of them together in a single row - but that's just how I view things.
I personally prefer it when they are more spaced apart... say 3 or 4 next to each other, then a gap with maybe 1 or 2 windows... etc.
Varying the gaps in the row, adding some hull grids between them, to 'break the repetition' if you know what I mean.
Still its your design choice.
Specially when you start building in the rooms behind them... lol
I've just regained my mental health so I don't want to lose my mind again:D
Looking fantastic. You're really bringing this beast to life
I'm glad you like it:)
@Deks:
When I made the windows first, I used the same layout with more space you mentioned above, but I didn't like the result.
I rather use this pattern and I will turn some lights off in order to make more space between the windows.
I finished the body as well as the command bridge, aft docking bay and the deflector. Redoed the panel lines completely to get rid off some jaggy lines (big thanks to MadKoiFish and Tobias for the texturing tutorials) and added some new greebles and graphic details. Here's the current progress with default lights:
I was near to full madness yesterday because there was an epic blackout at the same time I was about to save the scene.... fortunately it didn't get corrupted, so here's the basic color layout of the engines:
I finished the nacelles, rechanged all mats to get better result (incredibly big thanks to MadKoiFish for his guidelines and patient). Now I use A&D with AO settings but my comp has reached it's limits so I wouldn't be able to provide better images for now.
Also made a basic background for the ship. Here are a couple of screenies of the current progress. Next step would be the spec maps.
Nice, would love to see some higher resolution shots of these
I've found a good solution to decrease the memory usage drasticaly and also resized the main maps from 4096 to 2048 without losing quality. What means I will be able to provide HD pics as soon as I start the main scene.:)
@VALKYRIE:
Thanks bro!
I finished the spec maps and the lights as well. Pics gonna be darker because of the lights and effects.
Next step is the scene setup.
It's called Starfleet Bold. It's pretty much the same as the font that was used for every ship from TMP through Voyager. (and, presumably, on into the 25th century, since it's also used in Star Trek Online)
Other than that, it looks fantastic. The lighting is great.

Actually I was referring to the fact that it says USS Odyssey, NCC-1701-F
Your right to an opinion does not make your opinion valid.

@Starship: Yes it is, I will add some extra details to the phasers as soon as I finish the body:)
@Rekkert: Thanks, I need that:)

doing a great job with this!
But sir you have done great things with it's tailoring...truly inspired.
Aresius is totally right! :thumb:

@admiral horton:
That was inspired by Mark Kingsnorth's scene:

It's just temporary I'm still learning how to use these lens effect contents but lights like this also can be found on STO during the scan or another deflector related actions.
@Rekkert: Good to hear that.:) I've fallen in love with this cruiser ever since I saw her first but I know it's not so popular.

Yes, both need to be fixed.
Thanks a lot for the font info and the link.
@oldmangreg:
That's solvable.
