I need to find a ship to work on that I'm actually interested in. It's been a while.

This one's really busy on the bottom and a bit spartan on top.

I drew this back in the early 80's. Not too long after I first learned drafting. I think I posted it here several years back to show how it was related to another ship I was drawing. So, I guess it's time to find out what it looks like in 3D.

This is going to take a while. Moving down into the body of the ship.

Added some framework, and a few other things.

Okay. the links may or may not have a thumbnail attached. I need to either pay $80/year to GoDaddy for an SSL certificate, or change to a different host and get a free one. So, either spend a strangely large money to them or get off my lazy ass and do something I should have taken care of a long time ago.

Cropped back places where I built too far, added the main gun and worked on the hangar complex. (The sensor tower layers are turned off)

Still waiting for Host Gator to do something, so I can replace these links with thumbnails again.

I like how you pack a lot of different shapes together. I'd like to see your take on an asteroid ship--the best example of which was the Space Academy
  • rojrenrojren2293 Louisville, Kentucky USAPosts: 1,968Member
I think the rock part of the bases would be difficult.

I remember seeing an episode or two of that when it originally aired. I thought the buildings on the asteroid looked like assorted coffee making appliances. And Jonathan Harris with a cape and disco hair... Yikes.

Okay, I went and watched the first episode on Youtube. Terrible, terrible. I'll have to watch some more.

    I'm looking and I'm liking.
It never ceases to amaze me, the interesting and clever designs people come up with.
  • rojrenrojren2293 Louisville, Kentucky USAPosts: 1,968Member
    Thanks.

I chalk up a lot of my designs to 'happy accidents'. Scribbled shapes that catch my eye, and software that doesn't work as expected.

    Thank you.

Jeeze, it's been two months since I started this. . I don't know that I ever worked on one of these for two months.

Sometimes they take as long as they take. The fun jobs are the ones with a deadline that seems to keep changing. And then suddenly you're in crunch time.

Yeah. It's just that I've never done a ship this extensive before. It was the largest I ever drafted by hand, as well as the largest in CAD.

I make these things for me, to keep boredom at bay, so there's no deadlines. Most of my deadlines at work are like they need a drawing in 8-10 business hours, and It's done in 15-20 minutes. Pretty low stress.
