I figured to prevent spam, I'll post all my work here. To start off, I have a Homeworld-based model of a Bentusi ship in progress.
I'm trying to keep true to what an ancient race of cybernetic merchants would look like, and this is what i have so far. Plus this ship is armed with 7 rapid-fire Ion cannons. (3 of them will be mirrored over)
Comments? Awesome or crap?
EDIT: 8,041 polygons, 9,400 verts before the mirror
Posts
Everyone else: It's one of my favorite ships too!
P.S.: The mirror is just to show the uniform shape. 16k polygons and 20k verts untriangulated.
(So they don't all look the same.)
Edit: just saw your P.S., Ignore my post.
Currently the very front of the ship. Took weeks of procrastonation to make the greebles, and a few hours to plant them into the ship. (with procrastonation of course. )
Nice work here.
(still to finish the inside of the harbor though. -_-)
"Paneling... is... boring..."
Plus I got a few lights in the mix!
I used a turbulent noise map for the materials.
Wait, I though you're going for that one, now I wonder why it's more shaped like shaped a U, when the one in the image there has the circle more pronounced...
It looks absolutely great And 100% Bentusi!
I'm eager to see more of it. Some Homeworld is always good to see in these Star Trek-ish days.
Attenuated omni lights multiplied to blinding levels with mental ray shadow maps to boot.
About yea long, so high, and about that wide. :thumb:
160 m height
1.2 km width
Yes, that's the front. NO, it isn't a saucer for those who stumbled onto this thread.
EDIT: 200k polys!
