Heh. No the dot is the Runabout. Can you see it? Wow I need to fix those nacelle pylons they look like crap. Try not to notice the windows, yes they are huge. I'm fixing that. The hangers look plain but I'll fix that too. Anyways back to redoing the windows.

Looking great mate, I love the positioning of the escort bays, they really make sense there compared to at the bottom of the engineering hull.

Ok secondary hull complete besides the back which shouldn't take long. I'll do that tomorrow . I'm thinking about changing my mind on the vertical hanger. There are 2 openings on the backside on the bottom half of the hull. Those might work out.

    Wow, that's impressive.

Here's another thing I just noticed: While I do still prefer the original, Sovereign-style deflector dish over your Galaxy-style, there is one thing about the original that bugs me: The warp nacelle rear end caps. They look exactly like the Bussard collectors up front, but that doesn't make any sense. I think it might be a good idea to try and rework those into additional impulse engines. God knows you'll need all the engine power you can get with this whale of a starship. ;)

EDIT: And could someone please point out to me the Defiant in those orthos above? I won't even ask about the runabout.

I'd like to see an aft view ortho, I wonder how that looks, with the stacked Defiants all ready inside.

the Defiants can be seen in post 92, they would be in the upper bays below the big triangle thingy and NOT visiable in the Ortho images

Oops sorry about that I thought I posted the aft view. Stupid Firefox.

according to the schematics we have new dimensions. length as known from the comparison 1918 meters, beam 572 meters, hight 243 meters

wow, it's taller than the NX is long...
    Amazing.

Hehehe No, I would hope in the 24th or 25th Century they would have (GREEN) lighting

Here is another update: Magnetic Constriction Segments,Phase adjustment coils and tension members added.

I mean that the Excalibur is as tall as the NX (Enterprise) is long.

Nice work on the warp core. :)

Methinks you need more lifeboats...many more. :)

why he has the life pods shuttles and 2 defiants? i think thats plent considerign the defiant can hold liek what 300 people?
  • AresiusAresius359 Posts: 4,171Member
True, but how many are on that Excalibur by standart. Remember, the original Excalibr was far smaller and already almost twice the size of the Galaxy, therefore about 2,000 crew. Calculate the numbers for that monster and you're way beyond the capacity of a Defiant. Or 4 for that matter.

Have you considered the size of the crew on a ship this large? It could easily be over 5,000...very easily. The larger the ship the more exterior room will be required to have adequate escape pods since your increasing the interior space so vastly. Right now it looks like a Titanic.

You have a point there. I'll Probably add more to the saucer since most of the (Population) would be there. Anyways almost complete with the Warp Core. Added the Plasma Regulator so you don't get a Warp field inbalance because of using 2 intermix chambers.

Hm. Why place them so close together? If one fails and blows, the other will go right with it and cripple the ship. I'd say plce one in the engineering hull and one in the saucer. That balanced the power distrubution a bit more, eases the danger of a core breach on both and prevents any plasma imbalance.

Even with the cores in separate places it wouldn't matter which one would loose containment because the ship would be lost anyways. Look what happen to the Enterprise D. She exploded. I know the saucer separated but if it didn't that would of went up too and that has a tiny core compared to this one.
  • AresiusAresius359 Posts: 4,171Member
Good point, but that only nullifies the explosion-issue, which is a terminal question anyway. But the issue with the power distrubution remains...
  • stfanboystfanboy67 Posts: 388Member
Putting one in the saucer and one in engineering sounds like a nightmare. I would hate to be the engineer and go back and fourth. Besides this dual core setup wouldn't fit. It would be to tall.

How tall is this thing, 15decks?
