I still think the Defiant idea is a bit of overkill.

Really? Remember this ship is huge like around 1900m. Makes the D'deridex Class look small. I scaled the Defiant to it and it was tiny. I think its actually underkill if there is such a thing.

So... in essence the ship has turned ito aircraft carrier... or Space Carrier i guess, if its going to be carried a few defiant class ships on board.

I guess that would kind of make sense, given how big the ship is, Starfleet would want a mobile ship that is capable of looking after itself but also able to be used as a base of operations for a planetary emergency or something

Also be great for exploration well beyond the limits of smaller ships. Possibly the edges of the Milky Way or maybe beyond. I'm going to start up again on the windows tomorrow. I don't feel like it now. It was hot at work and my bad sunburn (TAN FAIL!!!!)made it worse.

I guess the Defiant classes can be used for added defense of the Excalibur, or go places where the Excalibur is either to big go or doesn't need to go.

In a lot of ways, it fulfills what the Ingram SCS was meant to do--but in the post-TNG era.
  • stfanboystfanboy67 Posts: 388Member
Ingram SCS? Link? Oh btw do you guys want to see the scale I have the defiants at?
  • Dr-TimelordDr-Timelord0 Posts: 0Member
Will we be able to see the Defiant again the Excalibur on a 1:1 scale, i'm sure it must be bigger than a dot ?
  • stfanboystfanboy67 Posts: 388Member
Heh. No the dot is the Runabout. Can you see it? Wow I need to fix those nacelle pylons they look like crap. Try not to notice the windows, yes they are huge. I'm fixing that. The hangers look plain but I'll fix that too. Anyways back to redoing the windows.

Indeed, I'm impressed. So, does that sweety regularly carry two Defiant-class vessels around?
  • stfanboystfanboy67 Posts: 388Member
Thanks Aresius. Yeah they are permanently a signed to the ship. Going to call them the USS Merlin and the USS Arthur. The Runabouts won't have a Starfleet Registry Number they will be numbered like shuttlecraft.

Well, see my PM in these regards...
For those now wondering: We had a short PM'ing and he asked whether it should be 4 or 2 Defiant-class vessels. Given the size I think 4 are more befitting.
In accordance with these names, the others should be named Galahad and Lancelot.
  • stfanboystfanboy67 Posts: 388Member
Wow Forgot about those names. Yeah if i can get 2 more in there i'll Use those. They might be small enough to fit in the main hanger.

Quick question, how big is the Excalibur? My Renegade-E is about 5 times the Sovereign-class
Your right to an opinion does not make your opinion valid.

Looking at this, I like your Excalibur better. The nacelles could stand to be a bit farther apart, but whatev.

Around 1.9km i havn't figured out the beam and the height yet.
  • AresiusAresius359 Posts: 4,171Member
Can you superimpose the original design on it? You know, say the original is 1.1km in length and this one is 1.9km, it means we're having a ration of 1:1.72, so that means the beam is x*1.72 and the height is y*1.72?

By the way, I just ran across this:
    http://phaeton99.deviantart.com/art/Colossus-How-Big-is-Too-Big-97187814?q=boost%3Apopular+space+yacht&qo=112
The numbers should give a routh idea how it would work in all this and the ship here is 2km long and that's quite close to what this one is.

Looking at the specs Kuckuk333 gave on page 6 the beam would be 1050. I hope that is nacelle to nacelle. The height would be around 301.

Thanks for the math. I suck at it.
  • AresiusAresius359 Posts: 4,171Member
THanks. Well, I almost failed the A-level exams because I also suck in maths, but it's enough to get my by in such matters.
    So that's 1050 meters, nice.

I wonder how many decks she would have now.

well, concerning following facts: Enterprise-D is 141 meters high and has 42 decks. that makes an average deck-hight of 3,35 meters. your Excalibur is precisely 1918,77 meters long what results in a hight of 283 meters. taking the average- deck-hight of 3,35 meters per deck this results in a number of 84 decks

the beam of the original excalibur is not from nacelle to nacelle but the beam of the saucer. it is slightly more than from nacelle to nacelle (only few meters) the hight can be calculated quite easy with the port-view comparison given by you on page 4. taking the length of the small excalibur as given (1185 meters) one can calculate the length of the bigger one. it's simply calculating with scales. and just as Aresius said before: if you superimpose the original design on yours, as i did in my calculations the beam of your excalibur is 971,53 meters and the hight is 283 meters.

BTW I have no problems with big windows, just say they span two decks and are larger.

Yeah there is a few of them. The one in the front near the registry and the large strips on the sides of the saucer i'm keeping.

You meant Excalibur right? Oh and don't forget the arcades and bowling alleys. Should be done with the resizing on the saucer sometime tonight. I'll post some pics finally.
  • stfanboystfanboy67 Posts: 388Member
Ok this time I'm done with the Saucer. I'll finish up resizing the windows on the secondary hull tomorrow.
