okay, incredably stupid question, but how the heck to you inset images? I tried in my tut, and all I got where links. Did it once, can't seem to do it again.

I post the images on my website and then note the URL. Over here, you just click the image icon in the Advanced version of the reply box and type in the URL (or paste it) and you have an inset image!

You can probably also do it with PHP tags.

Well, I wasn't awake the whole time, but about from the time I read Eric's post with the BUSSARDS to when I posted. Even then, I was still making it up as I went.

Lamentably, my evil powers mostly lean towards world domination, weapons of mass destruction, torture methodology, small arms combat and the likes. So, for simple stuff like this, I usually have to think a little.

That depends on whether said genius realizes that it's not so much the tools but rather how one uses them.

Close, Saturday. (Like my boss says, "You didn't say which Saturday.")

I've started writing the Busssards tutorial.

This seems like a reasonable place to ask. Does anyone have the correct RGB values for the hull color of the TOS Connies?

Seems like I read somewhere that the original studio model was painted with GM automotive primer. I don't know how many different shades of gray are available, but I bet if you looked up the RGB values for that paint it would come pretty close.

The model I'm making in Cinema 4D actually has a white hull, but with the specularity map and lighting it looks more like 127-127-127 Gray (50%).

You might want to take a look here:

CultTVman: What Color Is The Classic Enterprise?

It's even got a JPEG of some color chips of what matches over spray on old drawings of the ship used by the builders.

OK, I know I'm skipping ahead here, but I'm a little stuck in my own build. The part I have circled on these pics has a little indentation into the hull that smoothes out into the engineering section. However, every time I try to accomplish this, I wind up with mesh distortions out the butt. How did you do this part on your model without said errors? Or did you do it differently?

I'm about to do something that's different than Alan's plans. It's more in line with the prints by Franz Joseph and the ones in Star Trek: The Magazine where there is no indentation. On the 3D model and plans in Star Trek: The Magazine, that part is flat but flush with the hull. I might just save myself a headache and do it that way, unless you have any sage-like advice on how to do this indentation nicely.

    :D

Carefull doing that EG. The studio model does have the indentations (that is if your refering to the omce that extend into the deflector area.)
