I replaced the displacement with a subtle bump map and focused on the roughness again. Of cause the denoiser erased most of the effect from the roughness map. Sorry for the image flood by the way, but I needed to see how the material behaved under different angels and lighting conditions.
At first I just wanted to quickly give my models a few basic materials to break up the monotony, to get a feeling of how it could look in the end and to grow more familiar with materials and textures in general. Well, that was two years ago and although I know that's not really true it feels like I have done nothing else but experimenting with materials ever since. It's time to let that rest for now and focus on modelling again, like I promised a few posts ago. Might take me a while before I have to show something decent, though. Therefore, see you later.
