Thank you @publiusr for your reply.
The pylons are just placeholders at the moment. Therefore they most likely will still change a bit. But making them thicker? I'm not sure if I would like that. Maybe I try, we will see.
Glad you like the "ready room". That was an idea floating around in my mind for quite some while now and therefore a very important feature to me. It's not supposed to be the ready room, though. It's my interpretation of the circular conference room that we have seen in The Cage and Where No Man Has Gone Before.
And just in case you are wondering how it is accessed: I did add a second door to the bridge and a small corridor behind it.
While the turbolift itself now is where it actually belongs. I admit that this is a bit tight, but as long as it isn't sticking out of the hull I don't care that much.
Thanks. That's what I thought, too when I started this. Of course there have been a few builds since then. Reminding me of how slow I am.
Like always getting the proportions right proved to be the major challenge. From discussions around other builds I learned that DS9 is the place where scaling goes to die and getting it right is almost impossible. So I told myself that I won't even try and be happy if it just looks like on screen.
I started with the habitat ring - 'cause its the most beautiful part of the station, in my eyes - and was kind of surprised how easy it was to match it with the reference material (mostly screencaptures). The rest of the station turned out to be tricky, though. Especially the core always seemed to be either too big or too small compared to what I had already built.
Now the bow need to be paneled again as well. This time lower the panel lines seems to be the right choice. Not completely happy with those thrusters though. I did build very fine lines which just vanish from a greater distance. I will have to do them again for I would at least like them to be visible from a distance like in the first picture.
Thank you @Rekkert , I had no idea that you still care for this project.
And here we have the next never-ending project. Labelling buttons ... one by one. I know, this would probably be faster using textures. But since I have zero experience in texturing I'm using cutters and Knife Project instead. My hope is that the process will fasten up when I have labelled enough buttons and can start reusing them.
I'm still messing around with the bridge dome. Latest experiment: mixing materials.
The lower material is a translucent glass. Don't know why it appears completely opaque in the first image.
@evil_genius_180
After seeing both versions side by side I think I'm also sold on the wider version.
@ashleytinger
Thank you.
The position on the secondary hull is inspired by the Refit Enterprise. Also the pylons should align with Engineering and Engineering should align with the antimatter tank and the tank position is fixed by the yellow circle on the underside.
So beside miner tweaks I doubt I will change theirs alignment.
