The Yalkai are our "space sirens" like the Asari, Syreen, Elerians, and Orions. But in reality they're giant starfish with Byzantine backstabby politics, poisonings, and other fun sunny day activities!
Heh, yeah, liking that too, very strong concept artwork. I also like how their species' sigil/insignia evokes thoughts of bees with the honeycomb like hexagonal elements and yellow/orange and brown hues, nice bit of design work there.
Nice, liking the boxy look of the Tharrn hardware, particularly that starbase, but also love what you've done with the engines on that battleship, nicely integrated with the hull of the ship. Good solid and unique designs for each race, keep up the good work.
We're almost done with the Yalkai (just the fighter left) the Aranids, Orinthon, and Synth are left. Then it's space monsters and super ships so there's still 5 months or so of work left but the principle species art will be done in the next 8 weeks or so.
Yeah, we wanted the waldos to look a bit like Doc Oc's.
With the Selach their ambassador has gold covered fins, and my thought was that their ruling caste tends to not get their hands dirty (literally) while the scientists generally don't care.
So for today here's some bugs, the various Aranid characters!
I like it, has something of a new (heh, new, yet over 10 years old, 21st Century Galactica, you know what I mean) BSG Cylon about it, and looks quite stealthy too, which I'm sure is intentional with a spy race.
As opposed to showing off another model, here's a rather hilarious bug. We forgot to add the gravity modifiers for the Katraxi so they wound up all starving to death Interstellar style!
This is awesome. The more I see about this game, the more I like it. I love space strategy games and I love you guys for having Linux support. When it's complete, will you be selling this on Steam or what?
Steam and GoG. On the 28th we'll be releasing the skirmish mode demo long promised and there will be an expanded demo for people who do the crowdfunding support with more species.
Obviously we don't know what the steam price will be since they do all price controls but it'll likely be 30 there. So we'll be doing it a bit cheaper for people when we do the KS September 28th

Despite the game being a huge homage to what we liked with Master of Orion, in many ways it's really more "Babylon 5 the 4x game."
So our fourth species article covers the Aranids, our space bugs!

Still epic.
Anyway on the site today we did up an article on why we went with turn based combat despite pretty ships:
