If I understand that right, the Turloc ships are vertically oriented, instead of horizontally? Rare to see such a design, love it.
looking forward for the Aranid designs.
And the Selac are both much Minbari-inspired (eventho with different colour) and have some aquantic streamlines... Very cool.
Yes, the Tulock are more vertical, I'm thinking at least one more species we'll probably orient that way.
The Selach are meant to be a bit of a combo of Minbari and Xindi aquatic, with quite a bit of Seaquest DSV tossed in for good measure too.
We're doing the Xantus fleet next, which so far are looking like a bit of a mix of the Wraith, Shadows, and Shivans. Really drives in the "sneaky, evil, Things" vibe.
Well the next species we're working on the Yalkai we're intentionally trying to mix Centuari and Ferengi a bit so it'll be interesting to see your comments there
We just re-launched the website which should be a bit more accessible and has on it all of the various models and art we've released over Facebook and Twitter while the site was down for the facelift.
Also, on some 2d art here's what the surface for Ocean planets is looking like:
I don't think I've shown off the Human Battlestation yet either: Human Battlestation (View in 3D)
We'll have articles on different topics every day, including species summaries and on composing.
Yeah, they are somewhat reminiscent of the Kilrathi. But, it's not like all of the races have a Wing Commander look to them. Besides, they still look cool.
The Katraxi are intentionally like the Kilrathi, Mrrshan (minus cat space boobs *sigh*) and more importantly the Kzin from Niven's Known Space which is what the Kilrathi are based on.
But overall if some people say "strong Wing Commander vibe" others say "strong Babylon 5 vibe" and yet others say "strong Star Trek vibe" I think we're doing our job in trying to make a strategy game that gives the vibe of all of those things.
Also as a heads up the 24th of next month will be the magical date where we start the Kickstarter and release the tactical demo. The KS being basically pre-ordering and alpha/beta access for the game and getting an expanded skirmish demo. (since we wanted to give something to people shelling out)
Also, showing off what those Tulock ships look like in a nebula!

Don't know how I've missed this thread until now, some excellent work in here.
We posted up a few more articles, including one by newman outlining the basic philosophy behind designing ships for LoR.
But the big thing for this week is showing off the Katraxi characters:

Also, we did a short article on the ideas that went behind the Human fleet design:
