Sad to see the front page is still hacked...but i was able to add some sweet paneling to this thing, change the shape of the frong "eyeball" a bit, added some little spot lights here and there for added effect...looking pretty cool I think! A little worried I added too many greebles, not quite as smooth as he makes things. Crits and Comments welcome...
Forogt to unhide my splines, but worked on the ship lighting more too and some material improvement...made more items white and of course added greebles..
Reworked the lower body area, it was too simple and lame looking, so now I have some overlapping panels with greebles. Will continue to refine this area...
Another update to the rear...I think I'm about done with the backside, I'm liking the subtle amount of detail, I want it to be pretty smooth still. Also mirrored and moved some greebles from the upper body over to the other side. I think I'm going to work on the little "side-car" pod next. I'm not liking it's shapes as much.
Made a minor update, more glowy bits in the front, fixed some material issues, and composited in some skyscraper windows to make it look a bit more lived in...
Hey japetus, I've been following this for a while but hadn't posted so I apologize for not making a comment. Yet...
I love it, and you did a beautiful job! A lot of complicated curves and interesting technical and artistic detail. The engine glow is terrific. I am sure John Berkey would have been flattered.

Good question, I just started really working on that area. Here's a view of it, still adding things but I think I like where it's going...
and a view from another angle...
I agree with your decision; the toned-down detail works very well with this particular design.

It must be seen in motion!

And I'll echo Mikala's plea for animation. Seeing this in motion would be too cool.
