I suppose it's one of those difficult things. For instance, whilst the Federation's a probably-federal democratic system, would, say, USS Royal Oak, or USS Monarch (both named for British WWI battleships) be allowed? I wouldn't be surprised f there's a very well known starship or two with references to the Andorian military empire. It's sort of how the whole no-religion thing would technically preclude vessels from having names like Martin Luther King or suchlike. A USS Imperium's kinda out of place, but it wouldn't take too much effort to explain what it's referring to. And if necessary, lampshade it*.

*as in, make in-character reference to the name being strange. After all, there are a Zhukov and a Cortez in the fleet roster, and neither of them were particularly pleasant people. Maybe it's named after a famous Andorian battlecruiser from the Romulan War.

    Relentless.jpg

Here is the Final Art for the I.S.S.Relentless for Glenn Judd. We decided to only do the Top/Bottom/Side
view since it was taking me a little longer to figure out this design. I know it is not 100% like Rick Sternbach's
design. I did alot of guessing since there was only one view of his design. I even put some of my own detailing
and upgrades into the design. Hope that Rick likes what I came up with.

And here is the inks for the current character Commission I am working on a Bolian Medical Officer.

The Imperium was named in honor of both the original concept of the word, as well as the reforms taking place on the planet known as Magna Roma from 'Bread and Circuses'

I'm not a big fan of the ship design, but the artwork is strong, as usual. The Bolian looks great so far. I like the malevolent look on her face. She definitely looks like the type who would bet as to whether her patients will live or die.

Here is Chief Medical Officer of the I.S.S. Capone Lt. Vaxx. This is a custom character commission for Glenn Judd.
Oh and in the Dark Mirror Universe Al Capone was a Political Hero. And the I.S.S. Capone has a special ship
registry it is his birthdate 1-17-1889

Decided to update the backgounds of the Characters that started it all for me the Command Crew of the I.S.S.Titan.

Here are a few character designs for a Alternate Mirror Universe
to that of what was portrayed in DS9.
In this Mirror Universe the Empire is alive and more Dark than
it was in the TOS episode Mirror Mirror.

The Empire never fell to the Klingon/Cardasian Alliance. Instead
it destroyed that alliance and went on conquering the universe.

    Captain Riker.

Yes that is a Borg Eye piece, but he has not been assimilated.
The Terran Empire has engineered modified Borg Tech to be
    used on personel and equipment.

This Borg implant can be remove when ever Riker wants to.
The Implant ties into the Titans Tactical and Weapons systems
to give him greater control over his ship.

    Commander Deanna Troi.
As with the Federation version she is Riker's wife. She also
    serves as political officer.

    Commander Geordi LaForge.

In the normal universe Christine Vale was given the First Officer
posting, but in the Dark Mirror Universe Geordi took it. He to
has modified Borg Tech as well as occular implants that Tie into
    the Titan's systems.

    Lt. Commander Tuvok.
    Science Officer and Second Officer.

    Lt. Christine Vale.
In the normal Federation Universe she is a commander and
first officer of the U.S.S. Titan.
But in Dark Mirror Universe she was not offered that posting, but
She was made a full LT. and is head of the
    I.S.S. Titan's Security Teams.

*Note Eventually I will update her to look like Katie Sackoff

*Note: Most of you have seen these from older images that
were posted in my gallery. I have updated/ redesigned their
    uniforms, combadges & rank insignia.

Nice, but with the second one you can still see a bit of the hilt for the saber behind the Klingon.

For some reasons, I don't think that the Klingons would even bother making ship-patches. Class-insignias yes, but individual ship-patches.... Hm..
  • evil_genius_180evil_genius_1804770 Posts: 11,282Member
Are you implying that Klingons are lazy? :p

Looks good to me, Sean. :D
  • AresiusAresius359 Posts: 4,171Member
    Quite the opposite.
I imply that they are functional. And it would be very un-functional, to waste time on designing badges for every single ship.
  • SchimpfySchimpfy396 Posts: 1,632Member
But it could be functional. A patch denoting where a unit/ship has been and done would do a great deal to bolster moral. That's why just about every military unit that's worth its salt has something along these lines. Matter of pride and all...

Well this is just for a fan and his flagship on STO. I can see the insignia for a Klingon ship for unity. But the patch less likely. In Starfleet the patch would still work I think.

Here are my Blue Line Pencils for the Leia Skywalker Imperial Pilot Commission I am working on for :iconkclcmdr:
This is actually turning out to be fun. I am a Big Star Trek fan, but an even bigger Star Wars fan so this is a real nice change
of pace form the Dark Mirror work. I hope to get more commission in this Universe of characters, or even Stargate or Serenity
would be fun as well. I will continue to take any and all Dark Mirror commissions, but this is really nice to get to do.

@Juvat: That's what the Battle Records are for. They go even further and highlight each warrior separately. Far better than a simple patch that describes a ship where, due en.to battle and subsequent injuries and death, the crew manifest changes often.

Sweet, dude. I too am a huge Star Wars fan, I just typically do Trek work. :)

    LeiaSkywalker900.jpg

Here is the Final image for my latest commission for
kclcmdr of a Imperial Raised Princess Leia Skywalker

He wanted her to be dressed as a Tie Fighter Pilot.
I decided to give her a little backstory see below.

    Name: Princess Leia Padme Skywalker
    Call Sign: Ice Princess
    Assigned: 501st Wolf Sqaudron
    (Emperor Vaders Personal Squadron)
    Father: Emperor Vader
    Mother: Empress Padmē Amidala Skywalker
    Brother: Prince Luke Anikan Skywalker

    Princess Leia Skywalker was raised
in the Imperial Palace with her brother
Prince Luke under the watchful eyes of their
    parents Emperor Vader and his
Empress Padmē. After her parents overthrew
Emperor Palpatine shortly after the close of
    the Clone Wars.

Seeing that the Republic which they once
served could never be restored. Decided
to keep the galaxy under Imperial Rule.
While Prince Luke was being raised to be
next Sith Lord under Vader. Leia was
schooled in all forms of government and
military principles by her mother. As part
of this schooling she has been serving
in the 501st Wolf Squadron as on of their
    top pilots.

Unfortunately as part of her upbringing she
has a reputation of being unapproachable and
cold to anyone not with in the Royal Circle.
Hence she has gained the call sign of
    Ice Princess.

    Nice work there.

One error in the text for the Ice Princess.
    "As part
of this schooling she has been serving
in the 501st Wolf Squadron as onE of their
    top pilots."

BTW, are there any plans on making Luke or Emperor Vader? Would be nice to see them. (Or the entire Imperial Family)
  • Dark SaberDark Saber1 Posts: 0Member
Who knows, this was a commission where the client just said do Leia as an imperial pilot. I came up with the title and back story in about 5 minutes. Oh if I did do Vader he would not be in the armor. I see him actually being able to get Padme and Kennobi to see his side of things. I see Vader as a gray Jedi/Sith. He isn't the light side goodie goodie, but he isn't thee full Evil Dark Sith either. That is because he has his family there to help him balance the two sides of the force. It doesn't mean the Empire is a good thing for the galaxy either....but I would have to think on that part of the universe.
