Fantastic!
You say it's the same size as the studio model (what sort of references are you using?), Are you aiming to go beyond the studio model's detail?

I'm using the Christie's auction photos as reference. I'm scaling it based on the known size of the kit bash parts used in it's construction. The studio model is 37", also the images posted on Drex Files.
I'm actually shooting for the exact detail of the studio model.
Absolutely awesome.
Completely out of interest - what would you charge if someone were to commission a model like this? I can only imagine the time and work that goes into it...
Beautiful and amazing... what a fabulous thing to be able to do. Please keep us posted. And if at all possible, maybe post some pictures of the vacu- thingy- molding process itself. I'm curious as to what that process would actually look like.
Perhaps you could put a question to rest, as your Defiant looks way more accurate than anything else we've seen. What is the deflector actually made from? I'm virtually certain it is a specific kind of lenticular diffuser used in fluorescent lighting, based on close-up photos from the auction. It's usually assumed to be a grille or mesh screen, even in the concept art and the CGI model, as well as every single mesh I can find.
I have another question :P
I recently found my playmates Defiant model and I was wondering if the warhead actually tilted in the show like the toy does . . .

Here's some more progress, the main parts in a loose mockup.
The nose section.
And the nacelles.

It's mostly vac formed over mdf fiberboard forms.

Nose
Trim to fit, then detail.
The defiant taking longer to build that your Ent-E right?
Either way this is looking great.
