Ok, so over here, and on the Trekbbs board, there have been all kinds of Daedalus class ships showing up recently, and I saw one image (I can't find it again) showing a Daedalus with Kelvinized parts. So, I thought I would build something similar.
I warned you, this is weird.
I named it the Archon; Apparently it was supposed to have been a Daedalus class, originally. Maybe this is what it looked like.
This is still very preliminary; I haven't even smoothed out the shapes yet.
What do you guys think?

It gives the Dadalus style of ship balance, whilst also reducing the Dadalus style's ungainly profile.
Any suggestions?
One suggestion, which i'm not sure will work, aesthetically: The way warp nacelles supposedly work mean that having them so close together on either side would not bring much benefit.
Perhaps you can stagger the way they are stacked? Get a little more verticle distance between the nacelles?
Keep it going.
Bmused55, they actually started out that way, spread apart more like the Nacelles on the Stargazer, but they looked funny. That's the only reason I moved them closer together. A poster at TrekBBS suggested that I connect them together at the front... I think that's the direction I'm going to go with, now.
You have a good ship there, can't wait to see it finished, keep up the good work.
Here's what I was messing with:
and this was probably the strongest dislike of it.
So, here's where I backpedaled to, and started detailing:
Weird is good. I like weird.
Never a truer word spoken! :flippy:
I think I have finished this one as far as it will go. It's really a background ship, so I'm not going to go too crazy with it.
Here goes...
What do you guys think? I think I nailed the "Something Weird" part.
Welcome back.
Well, I kinda like it, though.
Very nicely done!
[edit] Oops, I forgot to say that I like this ship quite a bit.
