Yeah, I was thinking 13 minutes wasn't so bad either. But then, that's why I hate doing animation. It takes too long to render.

    .
You'd freak if you saw how long it takes me to render out a loaded frame for Tiny Trek ;)

    13 minutes is nothing! ;)
Half an hour at least! Without anything like motion blur....

Set it to churn when I go to bed and hope nothing crashes.......

One of my first star trek projects was a 12 minute video with 1000 hours of render time. Ok, that was in 2012 and now computers are much more powerful. But 13 minutes is still a long time for one image. But if you want a good result, you have to accept that.

Star Destroyer bridge. Did you recognize Vader behind the window?

    This shot is finally finished.

    Working on the next shots

Escape from Hoth...Used the original background and replaced the Rebel transporter and the X-Wing with CG Models

    TESB21.jpg

For the closer shot I worked on the details of Hoth.

That Star Destroyer bridge didn't bug me until I was playing with a 3D model of it and realized that it shouldn't be as brightly lit as it was, but because the ceiling was a matte painting over a lot of it on set, they could light it how they wanted.

That's not a criticism of your work at all just one of those observations that you don't get until you get in and screw around with a mesh. These all look fantastic.

Interesting aspect. I would even have a 3D model of the Star Destroyer bridge here and a CGI Vader as well.

But my skills in character animation are rather limited, so I don't want to try my hand at it.

But maybe I'll look into it in the future.

    Next shot.

The old models still work very well in the fast sequences.

The first scene with the Millennium Falcon.

For the hangar escape shot I used the original background and replaced the falcon with a CG model.

    TESB28.jpg

    TESB29.jpg

The escape from hoth shot has a stock footage background video.

This was a difficult shot. Put a still CGI object in a live action scene is a complicate thing. I worked with colorgrading, CG Fog and other effects but the shot already doesn't look perfect.

    TESB32.jpg

With an animated object it's quite easier.

    TESB33.jpg

The Falcon shot got a different colorgrading.

The big thing sticking out to me is the landing gear isn't in the shadow of the rest of the X-wing. The front and rear-left skids look like they're floating. Are you using a shadow catcher object for the scene comp?

None of this looks easy to me.

Nice catch. I didn't even notice that until you pointed it out.

After many animated work...I tried to create a high quality image. Inspired from the hangar shot in episode IV, I rendered these images with V-RAY render for the first time.

The old falcon model by Daniel Westergren has a lot of detail and very smooth texturemaps. Unfortunately there are in low resolution. So this was an experiment to see if this model can still keep up in a full hd render.

I mean...it can. What do you think ?

That Falcon model looks great and can definitely hold up in HD.

Were the Falcon cockpit lights on when they brought her in through the tractor beam? I honestly can't remember if Han shut her down as they went and hid. That's not a gripe, just my brain trying to remember and failing.

    This is fantastic.

Doesn't look like they lit the interior in the original VHS release.
