Hey guys, I wanted to share my progress on my first ever 3D build, the HWK-290 freighter from STAR WARS. First thing I modeled is actually the main body, but I went on to the big vertical exhausts.
I haven't come insanely far, but that's my progress so far

This is where I want your opinion, which one do you think is better? Or do you have an even better idea?

Holy hell there's a lot out there about the scale of this ship lol
It's a good start. Every project has to start somewhere. I agree with the others, I like V2 also.
What do you guys think about the air intake grills? Do you like them or would you change them? Colors and all are not final. Once I finish modelling this ship I'll texture it in Substance Painter. Looking forward to that as it is my first time doing that.
Continued my work a slight bit and added details to the back. Gotta rebuild the main hull unfortunately because there are some minor mistakes on it. Not sure how I'm gonna do it, but I'll get around it.
Also added a small detail which is the docking port on the ship's roof. It is also the similar to the one on the Millennium Falcon as both are ships from the Corellian Engineering Corporation and hence would share certain parts.
Agreed.
Thank you More stuff coming soon hopefully
Looking really nice so far. This, to me, was a great addition to the Star Wars canon. Always loved the Moldy Crow. Although it's a tough ship to get references for, one thing that stands out to me is the 'stilts' that you've got the vertical engines sitting on. The original material has the engine module extending down much closer to the 'wing' boxes that they sit on. Those boxes look a little more rounded as well.
This part here -
It could be an illusion based on the angle, but I'd suggest that your wings should be taller, as well. They look a little on the skinny side, at the moment.
And I'm assuming you've seen it, but if not, Jason Lewis did a great high res Crow for a Dark Forces remake he's been working on that might be of use. https://www.artstation.com/artwork/A929GX
Obviously he's done a lot of work filling in detail that isn't visible in the source material, but I think he's done a pretty good job of it.
And one more for good measure.
Thank you for your kind words. I might make the "stilts" a bit shorter, but I don't think I'll change them too drastically. The thing with this version of the HWK-290 is that I model it for a personal project and for that reason it is also customized to fullfill the needs of my personal project. Once I'll get to work on it again you'll see what I mean by that even more. And as you said, references are first of all hard to find and secondly quite different so it'll always end up as an interpretation of that ship .
