3DStar Wars - X-Wing revisited

Hi all,

I need a little break from the Millennium Falcon. I was working on this project about 1 and a half year now and IA’m close to finish the modeling. But sometimes you need a little break of doing something. Like a little vacation :)

In this weeks I want to do something else so I revisited the X-Wing.

This 3D model is based in the original kit parts used on the real Hero X-Wing model.

Here is what I have so far:

    Nice start on the rebuild. I remember your first build several years ago, it was very impressive. What improvements are you planning to make this time around?

    the improvements were to use original "hardware" for messurement like all the kitparts used for the original ANH Hero X-Wing ... this will make it more accurate :)

    So you actually have physical copies of the original kit parts (or reproductions)? Or just pictures of them?

    I have some of the real parts and some are in Blueprints and other are in Photographs.

    The Lasers are done and I have started detailing the Engines:

    Thank you all for the positive feedback, I really appreciate it.

    Here is an update: I've made the droidplate. Its made from original parts used for it. There is no fuselage at the moment because it has to completely reworked. The old/new one was completely wrong ... too short and too slim. So there will be a new one :)

    here is another 'lil update.

    I've made a new fuselage today (no details yet). Its very close to the Hero :) but I'm not happy with the nose yet ... it needs some more work.

    the fuselage is still wrong ... anyway :) Maybe some day I'll find better ref material and can make an accurate one.

    so today I made a new nose and started with detailing the fuselage ... R2 found his DroidPLate and he is really happy with it ;)

    Fantastic work as usual. You inspire me to get more involved with modeling seeing the work that you produce. My only problem at the moment is that I am addicted to smegging photography in a big way and it is eating 99% of my free time. I WILL try and get back into modeling soon! I look forward to your updates.

    Hello everyone ...

    the next update. I have finished the Backplate of the X-Wing ... 3 Backplates :)

    in ANH every HERO X-Wing was different ... the Backplates are form left to right red 1, red 3, red 5

    They all have different fuselage too but I have not done them. Its all based on one HERO fuselage.

    Beautiful work. Cool that you modeled the 3 different end sections; do you plan on making the ESB "undergoing maintanance" andcap removed version as well?

    Apologies. That was supposed to read .. "undergoing maintenance" the "endcap removed" version. This will clear it up way better than words.

    ahh yes ... thats the 1:1 X-Wing they build for TESB ...

    no, I won't build this too ... the 1:1 is completey different to all too so I stay with my ANH 1/24 models :)

    Thank you all for your nice comments ... I really appreciate it.

    I have finished all details for the fuselage today. I've made a (it was 2) nose for the Red 5 model too (I did one for Red 3 too). It looks more accurate now.
