Oh, nice work. Are you using the 3D schematics from Modeler Magic?
The season 1 Zoic orthos they have there helped me work out some of the oddness in the proportions that you can see in the earlier revisions..:) though I wasn't aware of the site until I was halfway through with the arms, so most of the initial shaping was done off of a few blurry screen caps:thumb:
Ah, seems that "The Plan" has gone the way of "Razor," being leaked before its actual release. I wonder if they've got screenshots up somewhere like they did for "Razor," as well...
How did you make the hull shape? Loft, sweep or something else? Excellent work.
There's no really simple answer to that question:D
I started with a rectangle, kept making gradual changes, subdividing, and then finally when I had a shape that resembled a basestar arm I turned on subpatching. Then I made two more copies of that arm, arrayed them at the proper angles. So far so good.. Then in order to get a smooth intersection between the 3 arms I had to manually push points together and merge them while still in subpatch mode, until the entire thing appeared to be one surface. Then I froze the whole thing when I was done.:thumb::D
Not the cleanest modeling ever, in fact there are quite a few points tucked away in odd areas, but it was the only way I could think of approaching such a unique shape:)
Thanks! I'm glad it wasn't just my imagination, thinking that was some pretty tricky geometry to model... great work, I've always loved the new basestar!
Hello:
And I agree, the new Basestar is also a favourite of mine, thanks to it's shape and thanks to it's bio-mechanical nature (that was a great plus for me). Keep up the great work and I am looking forward to see it battling against a Battlestar:thumb:.
I'm totally unfamiliar with that room (didn't watch too much Galactica) but it looks really nice. I would just suggest using fewer amount of lights with hard shadows because it makes the image look a bit too blocky :thumb:
Hm. When I look at these 3D girls, then these two blondes can be recognized as characters from series, but still there is place for some work on them. This asian girl needs much more work. But good start.
Interior of Pegasus? Are you going to build own Battlestar or do you need only this mesh?
Nice to see the Pegasus/Valkyrie CIC being built, haven't seen anyone else try that so far. Might be good to try using bluish lights and overall a darker, more contrasty look, with highlights. I don't know if they used orange lights much on the real set, but it just doesn't scream BSG to me.
@ghostfight: Erm... not so sure about those figures. D'Anna looks like a bloke with a couple of mangoes stuffed down his shirt. Six's face looks quite good though.

of course with all the bang bang, pew pew pew and kabooms that go along.
This is either going to be Pegasus's CIC or the colonial version of Stonehenge:thumb:
...still working on this one:)

Let me show because.:)
And more.
