Awesome project. Not that I envy you too much, must be a strain on the computer at times.

Wow, that's quite a software upgrade there! The first version of Max I ever used, to one of the most recent. The basic interface and tools are all pretty much the same, but there will be a transitional period for all of the little changes here and there.

Looking great so far. I love the ambitiousness of this project.

Yeah, I've had a chance to sample 2013 for a few weeks a little at a time. So, the shock of the transition has already hit and passed. There are quite a few things that really bugged me and still do to some extent; but,
It's a little strange having had the experience and then returning to Max5.1. It felt like home for a bit; but, it's so limiting that I'm ready for the change. And thanks.

Certainly.. lol. The render times have gone way up due to the poly count. Running Firefox in the background probably doesn't help either; but, Max 5 really is straining to keep up with me. The new computer under max 2013 will probably be more waiting on me based upon my experience so far.

More props. Working on the stuff I'm going to have to build up for later. But, I think I'm going to have
to do some serious troubleshooting on max as the render time on this one was 2 hours. Thinking the
nvidia cgi kit might have bombed out on me.

    Off to work...

The little doodads look great. That's definitely too long of a render, though.

I love your insanity! I dreamed about what you are doing. Just haven't had the time.

    With deepest respect,
    Anarion.

Found a temp fix for the rendering problems. Still moving ahead.

Still got some modding to do to fit it to the phaser II and to bump it for textures; but,...

Phaser II underway. Long way to go yet; but, the main body is coming out really well so far.

Thanks EG. The P2 is gettin better; but, I think I made it a tad wide; so, gonna have to look at trimming it a bit. Otherwise I'm really happy with the way both are coming along. Still working the P1; but, mostly just dressup stuff. ;)

    Absolutely amazing!

This is the best phaser design in all of Star Trek. It's hard to tell if yours is too wide or not. It looks pretty accurate to me.

The Back of the phaser 1 didn't extend past the body of the phaser 2 on the aft end. And on the front side, the p2 body was way out away from the p1 nose. So, It has been trimmed now to match the ref pics. I managed to do it without bothering the detail work (whew!), and did the same with the grip. So, now I'm working on detailing again. And I saved a copy of the odd sized original to play with later. But, you're right, from this angle you can't really tell.

Latest update. Added the grill to the p1 with a swingout base so it can function as in the series. Added
a few details to the p2 body. Still have some tweaking to do on the body as a result of trimming I did
    tonight. But, overall quite happy.

Did you ever consider to try character modelling? Just asking because it would be cool to see your Enterprise populated with some crewmen and of course you would have somebody to use the props you are doing lately.

When are you going to start your 1-to-1 scale construction of the Enterprise? Kickstarter anyone?

Can't go shooting in red without some means of telling someone you got shot..

LOL. I'm more interested in the future possibility of producing a scale model from the object files.

Great work on the communicator. (and the phaser too) Are you planning to cut out the grill patter or use a transparency map?

Probably will end up doing both.

I'm working on a figure to put in scene at the moment. Posting has been slow because I've not really done it before and it's eating a lot of time while I explore and figure out how to detail the figure out. I may post pics if anyone is interested; but, been pretty engaged with it.
