Yeah I figured tractor beams would do the parking but I'm already rethinking the bay... As for the AT-AT's, I'm cooking something up... I don't care for the options available (cuz they won't fit in my bay)... Here's an update... got some more paneling done and put the guns in...

Some greebling progress and starting in on the engine section. The panel lines are still being cut, they'll be a lot denser when finished but overall I'm pleased with the little progress I was able to make this weekend. Getting a really nice stockpile of greebles which will come in handy for the Imperator, Enslaver, Persecutor etc...

I agree, with all of the criticisms, I know I've got some scale issues to sort out and that's why you haven't seen a distinctive bridge or a landing bay go in, because I had no idea how big they should be lol. The guns on the Tormentor and Inundator were made to be similar but not the same size as the Imperator, so I couldn't use those. So I spent some time today doing the math and figuring out exactly how big these ships are in relation to the known Imperator and Executor classes. So I'll be taking another stab at the Inundator and Tormentor, but nothings wasted, since I've built a nice bunch of greebles to use. Anyway, here's a little comparison chart I made up...

That's a cool concept for a transport. It's even a little reminiscent of the original plans for the Millennium Falcon. As I was reading this I was thinking that the rebels would probably be able to buy a lot of obsolete ships from government auctions, so you'd have the rebels paying the Empire for ships to use against them. Meanwhile the Emperor is taxing Imperial systems to build new ships to fight the old ships you sold to the rebels to begin with, and he laughs (evilly) all the way to the bank. It's good to be the Emperor.

Not much new work done, still figuring out the command tower arrangement. Copied and pasted another heavy turbolaser turret on the top there. Lot's to do still...

Thanks for the comments! Things are moving right along... I'm starting to instance some of the objects so right now it looks a little cut and pasty, and some parts are just kinda hanging in midair lol... but I'm going to move some things around and add and subtract other parts to keep it from being too repetitive...

So recently (yesterday), I rendered these two pics of my Tormentor SD and at long last I am happy with my panel lines. You probably don't realize what a huge thing that is for me. I have been staring at Fractalsponge's pics for years now an marveled at his awesome system of paneling his models, big or small they all come out looking freaking awesome and I have foamed at the mouth with jealousy. I know he uses a large pattern and somehow gets that glued to the surface and then presto it looks freaking awesome and every couple of months I'll post in his thread "that's stunning" or "that's awesome" and I would post more but my vocabulary suffers from not completing college so I am bereft of terms to express my admiration for his work and my desire to learn how he maintains sanity while doing it. Anyway, after looking at his stuff I'll get inspired to go back to any of the dozen or so star destroyer type models I have saved on my hard drive in various stages of frustration. I've tried the pattern thing several hundred times and all I get is thousands and thousands of extra vertices and a computer gasping for more memory like it was air to breathe, I think I even killed a motherboard trying that method. Anyway, I can't do it like Fractalsponge, the man's a genius and I can't hold a candle to him for modeling. So I spent yesterday cutting and pruning and trimming and pissing off my wife and finally rendered these two pics, and I was pleased with the look.

In my happiness, I went down to the strip (I live in Vegas) and tried to hold a press conference in front of the Mirage. I figured I would pay a homeless man $10 to hold a microphone up in front of me and set up my video camera on a tripod in hopes that maybe a news van would pass by and they would think some interesting stuff was about to go down and jump on the opportunity. Well, I ended up paying the homeless man a bit more than $10, here's a little life lesson, not all people that look homeless are homeless, some of them are just criminals and have gangs of friends that will rob you on a side street near the strip. Everything turned out for the best though, my wallet was old and needed replacing anyway as was my video camera. So the press conference thing didn't work out, but, now I've got an interesting story to tell my co-workers on monday and I'm still pleased with my panel lines.

Well regarding the little shuttle, this was the original inspiration for it, which was some concept sketch from the original trilogy for the Imperial Shuttle...

From that I made this version...

Which I then rebuilt as the latest version in the post above. Talon I thought about putting a standard TIE type windshield in there, and even built a version with it, but it looked too much like a TIE Bomber kitbash to me, plus I didn't want to eliminate completely the bulb cockpit, although I have strayed quite a bit from it.

Now regarding the AT-AT transport, here's some ideas I'm kicking around...

Thanks! Yeah, I hadn't added in the racks yet only because I wanted to research them a bit more, but information on those seems pretty scarce, so I based these on a version I saw in one of Fractals hangars (also I didn't want to zoom in on my crappy TIE's lol). I figure I'd be pretty safe basing it off of his work lol. I still want to add in some elevators and wall greebles etc..

    Nonsense, your ships are awesome!

Here's an update size comparison chart. The Imperator was modeled after a toy by Hasbro, so those dimensions might be a little off from canon dimensions but I think it's still a good representation of the movie model (the toy, not necessarily my model).
