I rebuild the saucer a half dozen times, but i started putting in the remaining details. all that's left is shield lines and a few greebles on the bridge decks and we can call the saucer done and ready for texturing.
Dont mind the floating registry details, that'll be fixed later.
Also, she has a name, let's see if anyone can guess it _without_ resorting to google :P
It's a planetary sensor dome. All the 23rd century ships had those. It was't until the E-d that this changed.
Also, FYI there _are_ two models of the ambassador studio model, regardless of what you might see on some sites incorrectly attributing there being one model to a quote by Doug Drexler (including memory-alpha). So keep that in mind. The E-c model was only used in yesterday's enterprise, the remaining Ambassador model was used for the Yamaguchi, Zhukov and Excalibur. So keep that in mind when filtering out reference material for your work
Thankfully the movie has enough contrast (TSFS) that you can make out the depth of the greebling, but it does seem that under-saucer segment is pretty flat bar the twin tubes for the engines and the two recessed sections.
Great model, I don't like how the nacelle pylons of the belknap are mounted to the hull, but that doesn't detract from the quality of the work. Nicely done.
@Brandenberg an anonymous post from 2015... pretty sure those images are not going anywhere
Fun fact, did you know the TSFS Excelsior appeared longest of any of the Excelsior variants in trek?
TSFS's Excelsior was used for Encounter at Farpoint at the start of TNG and was used as the guest ship for all 7 seasons, TUC didn't occur until TNG season 5. So that means the TSFS excelsior version appeared as stock footage for all 7 seasons of Trek. The TUC excelsior only appeared for about 2-3 years in DS9 before Generations and converted to CG after that with it's own errors.
I do love that impulse deflector crystal on the back of the impulse deck personally, no idea why they replaced it in TUC with something different. That crystal dome was _the_ standout part of TMP that tied all the ships together.
