Looks fantastic so far. Eric's tutorial basically taught my 95% of what I've ever needed to know in Blender. Good luck with the rest of it. If you're anything like the rest of us you'll build it another 4 or 5 times as you learn more and more stuff.
I love this. You're always my go-to Enterprise guy and you got me into Blender in the first place. I made my latest Enterprise based on the same plans you're using here and the little changes really make a huge difference.
And I REALLY hope you make a Klingon D7 or TMP Enterprise and bless us with a tutorial one day (not at all subtle hint...)
Thanks! Yup, his tutorial series is an absolute lifesaver. Although I'm ashamed to admit I'm doing some things slightly different (sorry Eric, please don't hate me)
Based on the issues I've had with E3D, you need to make sure all the normals are facing the right way. That's been the number one cause of the files I've exported not opening correctly in the plugin anyway, with the missing geometry. Also you need to make sure all the modifiers have been applied - mirror, subsurf etc - and (definitely in the case of C4D) all the meshes need to be editable.
You'll need a dedicated 3d program to do it - Blender is a great one for OBJ, FBX and the like, but C4D will need C4D.
