For those that don't know, There is a new ship, in Star trek Beyond
Based on the Concept art for the USS Franklin.
There is only single view so, mostly just going with the flow in the design for now. uss franklin.jpg uss franklin2.jpg
Is it me, or is the new USS Franklin look -exceedingly- like the classic TOS Loknar class?
That isn't a condemnation, but an actual compliment. In that the movie crew is just a tad bit more in tune then we expected them to be, about some of the various designs that were referenced in secondary materials, but never made fully canon.
And yes @barricade it dose resemble the Lonknar class. Tho not sure what sorta secondary/engineering hull this might have
as with the TOS or TMP area of Locknar produce different styles.
I don't like how there is no secondary hull with the TOS version and the TMP one is more interesting to me 11111.jpg
But might be nice to see what others might have in mind with a design for a secondary hull
There doesn't seem to be a lot of headroom for the decks, I wonder what the reasoning was for having a concave saucer top? Not much room for personnel in the saucer rim, are they just bunkrooms?

Well the scale was just quick estimate. It could be between the 133 meters Length, or scale the outer part of the saucer to match the high of the NX-01. Would put the length around 225m which oddly enough matches the length of the NX-01
And width would be around 117m, but also puts the main view screen/window at 3.6m in height compared to some thing like 2.2m on the smaller scale.
everything subject to change once more details are know about the ship and will make revisions
lower and rear hull design details with freedom
notes hanger is width 7m height 5m or if one wanted the NX-01 scale of 225m, the hanger end up being width 11m
height 9m
Any one know the dimensions of the kelvin type shuttle?
slowing working away on an updated model for the Franklin going with Qmx one as reference
as well a newer enterprise as well. 2.png 1.png ship1.png ship2.png
So the model is almost done just a few things left to model most getting the windows in the right spot. and doing some thing with the torpedo tubs on the lower hull just needs some detail
up the poly count then some quick texture work.

It doesn't look to add much. Hopefully a deflector dish at least. Possibly a small shuttlebay.

I saw the movie last week and really enjoyed it. I love the Franklin, it's a really sweet design.
